Peter Wilson is a respected fixture of Northern California’s storied acoustic music scene. His repertoire is richly curated American songbook blending jazz standards, classic rock, blues, country, soul, folk, and originals – delivered with story, groove, and heart.
For your event, he can provide anything from a solo performance to a duo, trio, quartet, or full band. As a soloist, Peter uses tasteful looping to create a rich, dynamic sound—covering rhythm, lead, and harmony with effortless musicality.
He frequently performs as a duo with John Girton (Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, Maria Muldaur) or Joe Craven (Garcia/Grisman Project, David Grisman Quintet), and they also appear together as a trio.
Peter maintains long-established relationships with top-tier players, making it easy to assemble the perfect ensemble for dance events or concert settings.
"Peter was absolutely fantastic! Not only was he extremely communicative, he learned a special song for our wedding and performed a special song for us before he left. He was on time, adapted to our venue and was a great addition to our wedding. Thank you for making our day special!!! Would highly recommend!!" - Kaity S. - Wedding
"Peter and his band, The Pyramids, were a FANTASTIC fit for our event… we hold a dance every year, but I’ve never seen the dance floor packed like that before. Great music and vibes. Thank you so much for thinking of everything, including aligning to our theme. We’d love to contact you again if we’re back in Nevada!" - Tabby V. - Corporate Event
"Peter played for a small Kentucky Derby party in my backyard and he really set the ambience for a great time! Fun music selection and even surprised us with printed copies of “my old Kentucky home” for people to sing along with. He really did his homework and made the day pretty special. Would definitely recommend." - Dave R. - Private Party

DJ services are not provided. I can offer background music between sets.
I brought a 1950s "Sock Hop" band to The Nugget Ballroom in Reno, NV for the American Mensa Convention. It was a hit. I also perform solo acoustic at the Ritz Carlton Lake House on Lake Tahoe for summer events on the lawn. Amazing location on the lake.
I perform regularly for high-end corporate events. My sound and repertoire are well suited to creating an elegant vibe.
I've been a solo performer and band leader since 1978.
My repertoire includes songs popularized by The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, The Eagles, Van Morrison, Nat King Cole, George Gershwin, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, The Band, The Grateful Dead, Tom Waits, and many more. I play them in my own style.
When you hire Peter Wilson, you're getting more than an accomplished musician—you're getting a seasoned professional who understands that the success of your event depends on every detail. From the first inquiry to the final note, Peter is committed to making the entire process easy, dependable, and enjoyable. His clients consistently praise his clear communication, punctuality, preparation, flexibility, and ability to deliver exactly the right musical experience for the occasion.
For a typical solo performance, I arrive an hour prior to show time to load in and set up with additional setup time for larger groups. We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best.
We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.
We can learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 2 or 3 songs. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them.
Clients consistently describe my performances as exceptionally musical, versatile, engaging, and perfectly suited to their events. Whether creating an elegant atmosphere for a winery dinner, providing relaxed cocktail-hour music, entertaining a corporate crowd, or filling a dance floor, I read the room and deliver just the right musical experience.
Clients praise my guitar playing, soulful vocals, creative interpretations of familiar classics, and broad repertoire that appeals to all ages. I’m also happy to learn special requests and personalize performances to make each occasion memorable.
Just as importantly, clients appreciate my professionalism, reliability, punctuality, and clear communication. From intimate celebrations to weddings, wineries, and corporate events, my goal is always to elevate the occasion, bring people together, and create lasting memories through great music and a personal touch.
