DJ defCibel – Professional Events DJ
DJ defCibel began his full-time DJ career performing at private events between 2000 and 2005. After making his comeback in 2014, he has since performed at over 1,000 private events and professional gigs, establishing himself as a highly experienced and reliable events DJ.
His notable appearances include serving as the Opening Night DJ for SingaPlural 2016, the annual anchor event of Singapore Design Week, and performing as a Resident DJ at GastroBeats 2025, one of Singapore’s largest lifestyle and music festivals.
With extensive experience across a wide range of event formats, DJ defCibel is highly versatile and comfortable performing for diverse audiences. His portfolio includes Gala Dinners, Weddings, Family Days, Groundbreaking Ceremonies, Grand Openings, Corporate & Product Launches, Anniversaries, Dinner & Dance events, Roadshows, and Golf Tournaments, among many others.
Beyond performing, DJ defCibel is also passionate about nurturing the next generation of DJs. From 2016 to 2018, he served as a DJ trainer at The Kids Performing Academy of the Arts, where he educated and mentored aspiring young DJs in the fundamentals of music mixing and performance.
In today’s event industry, many clients face the challenge of hiring DJs who lack real-world experience due to short training programs. DJ defCibel stands apart with years of hands-on performance experience across diverse crowds, nationalities, cultures, and age groups.
His strength lies in reactive and dynamic live mixing, carefully reading the crowd and adapting the music in real time to match the event’s atmosphere. By understanding the flow of each event segment, DJ defCibel ensures the music enhances the mood and seamlessly guides the energy of the event from one moment to the next.
Whether it is an elegant corporate function or a high-energy celebration, DJ defCibel brings professionalism, musical versatility, and crowd-reading expertise to deliver an engaging and memorable experience for every audience.

Sound, lighting & smoke equipment are optional but available.
Yes, I am happy to discuss with the clients way in advance before the commencement of the event on the types of music to be used during the event.
For wedding events, guest song requests are typically not accepted by default to ensure that all music played remains appropriate and aligned with the tone of the celebration. The bride & groom retains the right to revoke this arrangement.
It’s difficult to single out one “best” gig or venue, as every event has its own unique atmosphere and audience. Some of my most rewarding moments come from events where the music truly brings people together and creates lasting memories. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a diverse crowd—of different ages and backgrounds—connecting through music, filling the dance floor, and sharing the energy of the moment. Those are the experiences that make every event special for me.Ultimately, the “best” gig is always the one where the client and guests have an amazing time and the event flows perfectly from start to finish.
I enjoy performing at any event where music plays an important role in shaping the atmosphere and bringing people together. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate celebration, or private parties, my favourite moments are when the crowd connects with the music and the energy in the room builds naturally. Seeing guests of different ages and backgrounds enjoying the music is always the most rewarding part of what I do. Every event is unique, and I take pride in adapting the music to suit the audience, the mood, and the moment.
My return to DJing in 2014 was completely unexpected. At the time, I was working in the corporate world when my manager discovered that I used to be a DJ. He asked if I would be willing to DJ at his wedding after-party, and I agreed, thinking it would just be a fun one-off experience.
That night reminded me why I loved DJing in the first place—the energy of the crowd, the connection through music, and the joy of seeing people come together on the dance floor. By the end of the celebration, several guests approached me to ask if I was available to DJ at their upcoming events. I walked away from that single night with three new bookings, and from that point on, things quickly snowballed.
What started as a favour for a friend unexpectedly reignited my passion for DJing and marked the beginning of my second journey as a professional events DJ.
It’s hard to pinpoint a single influence, as my journey as a DJ has been shaped by many. I’ve drawn inspiration from world-renowned DJs like Richie Hawtin, Roger Sanchez, Laidback Luke, James Hype, and AVB, whose music and artistry taught me valuable lessons along the way.
Even more pivotal, however, have been the guidance of three incredible mentors—Ko-Flow, James Tan, and James Van Carlos—whose advice and encouragement pushed me in the right direction and helped me refine my style. Their mentorship played a crucial role in shaping not just my skills behind the decks, but the DJ I’ve become today, allowing me to confidently adapt to any crowd and event.

I'm happy to play outside but I ask for shade, a flat and level surface, sufficient air circulation and a safe, power supply close to the performance area.
Absolutely! Clients are always welcome to provide a set list, playlist, or detailed instructions on the musical direction for their event. I see this as an invaluable way to understand your preferences, the event’s atmosphere, and the vibe you want to create. By combining your guidance with my experience in reading the crowd and adapting live, I can ensure the music flows seamlessly and enhances every moment of your celebration.
Most of the compliments I receive describe my performances as high-energy, relevant, and perfectly tailored to each event. Clients often highlight my ability to read the crowd and adapt the music in real time, creating moments where guests of all ages and backgrounds feel connected and engaged. Many have also noted that my sets not only maintain the perfect energy throughout the night but also enhance the overall atmosphere, turning their events into memorable celebrations that flow seamlessly from start to finish.
