I'm DJ Laz — a Melbourne-based open-format DJ and MC specialising in private events across all genres and all ages.
I don't just play music — I host the night. As an MC-trained DJ, I keep the energy up, interact with the crowd, make announcements feel natural, and build the atmosphere from the first song to the last.
My specialties include 18th and 21st birthday parties, engagement parties, wedding receptions, bridal showers, school formals, house parties and corporate functions. I also cater for cultural and Jewish events including Bar and Bat Mitzvahs.
My setup is fully self-contained — no gear hire needed. I bring professional Proel DIVA12A speakers (1000W x2), Chauvet GigBar 2 lighting, Shure SM58 microphone, Vonyx DJ booth and Serato SB3. I arrive early, set up before guests arrive, and pack down at the end with zero fuss.
Music-wise I'm genuinely open-format — Hip Hop, R&B, Top 40, 80s and 90s classics, Rock anthems, Electronic, Throwbacks and everything in between. I read the room in real time and adjust the set to keep your dancefloor packed all night.
Based in Bentleigh, I service Melbourne and surrounding suburbs. I bring professionalism and reliability developed through my background in elite sport operations at Port Melbourne Football Club and industry placement at a professional sports management agency.

Yes, completely self-contained. I bring a full professional setup to every event including Proel DIVA12A powered speakers (1000W x2) on stands, Chauvet GigBar 2 lighting rig (moving heads, laser, strobe and LED bar in one unit), Shure SM58 microphone and Vonyx DJ booth. No backline or venue equipment required.
Yes. I'm happy to play background music before the event begins and during any breaks. Clients can provide a playlist or preferred vibe and I'll manage it seamlessly, or I can curate the background music myself to suit the occasion. Everything stays consistent — no awkward silences or gaps in the night.
My standout gig was performing at Port Melbourne Football Club's end of season event. Having worked within the club's operations team, getting behind the decks for the players, staff and their families was a full-circle moment. The crowd knew how to have a good time and the energy in the room was electric all night — exactly the kind of gig that reminds you why you got into this.
21st birthday parties without a doubt. The energy is unmatched — everyone is there to have the best night of their lives and the dance floor is always hungry. I love the challenge of reading a young crowd across different music tastes and keeping everyone locked in from the first song to the last. There's nothing better than walking off at midnight knowing the crowd never wanted it to stop.
I got into DJing through my passion for music and my background in elite sport events. Working in match-day operations at Port Melbourne FC showed me what it takes to run a professional event — reliability, timing and attention to detail. I brought that same mindset into DJing and started building my setup and skills from there. I'm now actively performing at private events across Melbourne and building my roster through agencies and platforms.
My biggest influences are artists who understood the crowd — Michael Jackson for his ability to make an entire room move, Avicii for the emotional energy he built in a set, and Eminem for the way his music crosses every demographic. I love dropping mashups and remixes of these legends — hearing a crowd react when a classic they know gets flipped into something fresh is one of the best feelings behind the decks. If I had to pick one moment that never fails — the Sweet Caroline x Avicii mashup. Every single time, without fail, the whole room sings it together and the energy goes through the roof. That moment is what DJing is all about.
I arrive 45–60 minutes before the event start time to set up and sound check so everything is ready before guests arrive. A typical performance runs 3–5 hours depending on the booking. I'm flexible on set length and happy to extend or finish early based on how the night is going and what the client needs.
Yes, happy to perform outdoors. I ask for a flat, covered or sheltered surface to protect the equipment, a standard power point within reasonable distance of the setup area, and a parking spot nearby for load-in. For nighttime outdoor events I bring my own lighting so no venue lighting is needed.
Absolutely — client input is a big part of what I do. Before every event I have a conversation with the client about their must-plays, do-not-plays, and the overall vibe they're after. I build the set around that and then read the room on the night to keep the energy right. Custom song requests on the night are welcome too. It's your event — I'm there to make it sound exactly how you want it.
High energy, professional and easy to deal with. Clients consistently say the dancefloor stayed packed all night and that I read the crowd well — knowing when to bring the energy up and when to pull it back. My MC presence also gets mentioned a lot — guests appreciate having someone on the mic who feels natural and keeps the night moving without being over the top.
Yes — MC hosting is included in every booking. I handle all announcements, crowd interaction, introductions and key moments like cake cutting or speeches. You get a DJ and a host in one, without the extra cost of hiring a separate MC.
Absolutely. I regularly cater for Jewish events including Bar and Bat Mitzvahs with traditional sets including Hava Nagila and Hora medleys, as well as themed nights across any era or genre. Just let me know the brief and I'll build the set around it.
