About / Biography

Award Winning classical trumpet player with degrees from Arizona State University and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Having performed around the US and Europe I reside in Kenya and look forward to sharing my Music with the continent and beyond.
Erik is a dedicated musician driven by a profound passion for music. He
strives to inspire students and impart his extensive knowledge and
deep love for music. Collaborating seamlessly with fellow musicians,
Erik delivers captivating performances across diverse genres such as
classical brass, orchestral music, jazz, and contemporary styles.
Whether performing as part of an orchestra or jamming with a rock
band, Erik consistently seeks to refine his skills and connect with new
audiences, fostering life-long enthusiasts for the art of music.

Substitute Trumpeter
06/2007 – 06/2012
 Performed as one of two regular substitute trumpet players in
renowned venues such as Severance Hall and Blossom
Amphitheatre.
 Showcased exceptional musical abilities under the baton of
world-renowned conductors, including Pierre Boulez and Franz
Welser-Most.
 Contributed to the success of numerous high-profile
performances through precise trumpet playing and seamless
integration within the orchestra.
 Demonstrated professionalism and adaptability by seamlessly
stepping in as a substitute when required.
Canton Symphony Orchestra ▪ Canton ▪ USA
Second/Utility Trumpet
09/2007 – 05/2012
 He has demonstrated expertise as the tenured Second/Utility
Trumpet player with the esteemed Canton Symphony, actively
participating in concerts with the orchestra as the Second
Trumpet player.
 He assumed a leadership role within the brass section, serving
as Principal Trumpet as required and effectively guiding the
team.
 Successfully the brass lead the brass section in notable
compositions, including Stravinsky's Pulcinella, amongst other
significant works.

 Erik maintained a studio of 30 students, conducting lessons on a
weekly basis with students ranging from 6 years old through
college students at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
 With an emphasis on technique, he introduced students to
multiple genres with a strong emphasis on classical and jazz
music.
 Erik has successfully placed multiple students in some of the
nation's top universities and conservatories including Julliard, the
Curtis Institute, Michigan State, and Arizona State Universities,
among others.
Ohio Brass Ensembles ▪ Cleveland ▪ USA
Founder, Trumpeter
06/2005 – 05/2012
 As founder of the Ohio Brass Ensembles, Erik managed and
performed in multiple groups including the Starkweather Brass
Quintet.
 Erik was successful in booking and maintaining contracts with
multiple performing revenues year after year.
 Adept at coordinating multiple musicians' schedules, these
ensembles were some of the most active in the state.

Bugler
05/2012 – 11/2015
 After leaving Ohio, Erik served his country as a bugler performing
over 100 funeral services per year, rendering Taps for fallen
service members.
 Erik had the privilege of performing in the community for various
functions including ribbon cuttings, school concerts, and other
performances for the public such as parades, holiday concerts
and summertime jazz concerts throughout Western Washington.
