Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

It's difficult to choose just one. Performing at major festivals such as Ottawa Bluesfest, Mariposa Folk Festival, and the National Arts Centre has been incredibly rewarding. The most memorable performances are often the ones where there's a genuine sense of connection between performer and audience, regardless of the venue size.

What's your favourite type of event?

I enjoy a wide variety of events, from festivals and concert series to community gatherings and private events. My favourite performances are those where people feel comfortable engaging with the music, singing along, sharing stories, and creating a sense of community together.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've been performing and writing music for many years as a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and improviser. Over that time I've released four studio albums, performed at festivals and venues across Canada, and developed a performance style that blends original songwriting with audience engagement and improvisation. My journey began through a love of songwriting and connecting with people through music, which continues to guide my work today.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

As a solo performer, my setup is usually straightforward and can typically be completed in 15–30 minutes. Performance lengths are flexible and can be tailored to the event, ranging from short feature sets to multiple sets over 1-3 hours. I'm happy to work with organizers to create a schedule that best suits the occasion.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely. I enjoy performing at outdoor festivals, markets, community events, and private gatherings. Access to shelter in case of inclement weather and a suitable performance space is always appreciated, but I'm generally happy to adapt to a variety of outdoor settings.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Client input is always welcome. I have a large repertoire of original music and selected cover songs, and I'm happy to discuss the atmosphere you'd like to create for your event. While not every request may be possible, I do my best to tailor each performance to the audience and occasion.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Audiences often describe my performances as warm, engaging, and authentic. Many people comment on the sense of connection created through storytelling, improvisation, humour, and audience interaction. My goal is always to create a welcoming musical experience that brings people together.
