Dr. Mircea Gogoncea is an award-winning guitarist and Doctor of Musical Arts based in Southern California, offering elegant live guitar for weddings, corporate events, private dinners, cocktail hours, proposals, celebrations, and refined social gatherings.
His performances can be intimate and understated for background music, expressive and ceremonial for weddings, or more energetic and festive for cocktail hours and receptions.
His repertoire includes classical, Latin, jazz, pop, rock, Spanish, Broadway, flamenco, Balkan, world music, and more. He also takes custom song requests. Music can be tailored to the mood of the event, from romantic ceremony music to relaxed dinner ambience or lively guest entertainment.
He has received over 100 music awards, performed over 500 concerts on five continents, and holds 6 university degrees in guitar performance. He is also the current principal guitar professor at UCLA.
Available services include solo guitar, duos, trios, quartets, ceremony music, cocktail-hour music, dinner music, custom song requests, and larger ensemble options when a fuller sound is desired. Sound equipment can also be provided when appropriate for the venue and event size.

I started playing guitar at age 4 and have been performing for over 30 years. My background includes international concert performances, private events, weddings, corporate events, university teaching, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Over time, my work expanded naturally from the concert stage into high-end event performance.
I've been lucky enough to study with some of the world's best guitarists, including Pepe Romero, Scott Tennant, David Russell, and Joaquin Clerch. Through Clerch, I am a direct "student descendant" of Andres Segovia, the greatest classical guitarist who ever lived.
For most solo events, setup is very quick and usually takes only a few minutes. I always arrive with enough time to set up, sound check, and be ready before the scheduled performance. If the event requires earlier arrival, multiple locations, amplification, or additional sound services, we can build that into the schedule.
Yes, outdoor events are very common. I only ask for a flat, safe performance area, water, and reasonable protection from direct sun, rain, wind, ocean spray, or unsafe weather conditions. If the event is more than 3 hours long, or additional sound services are needed, access to power near the performance area is also required.
Clients have a lot of input. All packages include up to 3 song requests, and I’m happy to shape the music around the overall style, mood, energy level, and atmosphere of the event. Some clients choose specific pieces; others tell me the vibe they want and let me curate the music. You can also book additional song requests.
