Melanie Suzanne Wilson is a professional public speaker, MC, and podcast founder — a media, events, and community platform built around wellness, conscious leadership, and personal development.
With more than a decade of speaking experience across corporate organisations and community groups, Melanie brings honesty and energy to conversations that matter. Her talks and workshops centre on resilience, wellbeing, speaking confidence, and creating cultures where people genuinely thrive.
Melanie's grounding in public speaking runs deep — she was trained in classic heritage speaking techniques by her grandparents, Gary Wilson OAM and the late Elizabeth Wilson OAM, whose legacy of service and communication continues to shape her approach.
Melanie is available as a keynote speaker, MC, workshop facilitator, discussion facilitator, podcast co-host, radio guest, or guest speaker.
For keynote presentations and panel facilitation, I require a lapel or handheld microphone, a lectern or presenter table, and a screen or projector with HDMI connection for slides. For larger events, a confidence monitor or printed run sheet is appreciated. A green room or quiet holding space prior to taking the stage is preferred. For workshop formats, round or cabaret-style seating works best to encourage participation. I may be able to speak without a microphone for small-medium audiences and spaces, depending on their specifications.
I'd love to know the venue capacity, room layout, and any staging or AV setup already in place. Parking or load-in access is helpful to know in advance, particularly if I'm transporting workshop materials. I'll also need the name and contact details of the on-site event coordinator or AV technician, and any time restrictions for bump-in, sound checks, or the event itself. For outdoor events, please advise on weather contingency plans.
"I do not travel with my own PA or lighting rig — for most professional speaking engagements, venue or event AV is standard. However, I do bring my own presentation slides, branded materials, and where relevant, a clicker and backup USB copy of my deck. If a smaller or informal event requires a portable speaker, I can bring one for intimate gatherings of up to 30 people."
While I'm not a DJ service, I'm happy to provide a curated background playlist via Spotify for pre-event atmosphere or between segments at my own events. For client events where music atmosphere matters, I'd recommend coordinating this with your AV team — I'm always happy to advise on tone and energy that suits the occasion.
I was the MC and discussion facilitator for a not-for-profit advocacy organisation. I maintained the energy of the all-day event. An executive noted my "flair" and the organiser said I was a "natural." My speaking package also included guidance for the organisers on the runsheet, technical setup, the fellow speakers' microphone usage techniques, and the needs of the audience.
My favourite type of event values community or wellness. My ideal involves audience interaction, with a balance of professional formality and lightly conversational relatability for audience engagement.
I grew up as a speaker from my late teens and then my twenties. I learned public speaking techniques from my grandparents, Gary Wilson OAM and the late Elizabeth Wilson OAM. I presented to corporate and community audiences through most of my twenties. I started returning to speaking groups online during COVID, and then dedicated myself to public speaking on the Australian east coast after the pandemic. I served in leadership, presenting, and training roles at a not-for-profit organisation. I then created small independent events in 2025 and founded my podcast in the middle of that year. I have now hosted more than 70 podcast episodes with guest experts and advocates. I have been growing my professional speaking career in recent years.
I can answer this question to show personality, although it is less relevant to my work as a speaker. My favourite band is The Seekers.
I shall aim to arrive 30 to 60 minutes before my scheduled start time to complete AV checks, review the room setup, and connect with the event organiser. Keynote presentations should be planned to run between 20 and 60 minutes depending on the brief. Workshop sessions should ideally run 60 to 90 minutes and include interactive components. MC engagements are scoped to the full event duration. I'm flexible on timing and always work within the client's run sheet — I just ask for a final confirmed schedule at least 48 hours prior.
Yes, I'm comfortable speaking at outdoor events provided there is adequate shade, a stable and level surface, and a reliable PA or sound system appropriate for the environment and audience size. For outdoor events I'd also ask that a contingency plan is in place for weather, and that the microphone setup is suitable for ambient noise. Corporate garden events, community festivals, and outdoor wellness gatherings are all environments I've worked in successfully. I can speak without a microphone if required. However, if presenting with other speakers, others may require microphones to be heard.
I can adapt the topics, content, and formats of my presentations for the needs of audiences and event organisers.
Recent clients noted my "flair" and claimed I am a "natural."

So thank you for allowing me the space. And I'm really, really excited just to see what kind of ripple effect. Hopefully, people get a little nugget from what we're talking about today. And you know, it just is a positive ripple in the world." — Megan Imbert, Emmy-winning producer.
