The Biggest stage I've performed at was on a cruise ship and the best venue is a 3 way split between the Sydney Opera House, Woordford Folk Festival and Falls Festival
A music festival event because, as a magician, it's not often I get to work with a number of really amazing acts, it's just such a great vibe and so much fun performing at a music festival on those big stages.
I've been performing magic for 25 years and I got into gigging when I wanted a career change and thought I'll try this out for a while. That was 20 years ago, I've never looked back. I've performed all over the world on cruise ships, at music festivals, large corporate events, luxury weddings and high end crap at parties. I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
A lot of musicians focus on razzle dazzle and over the top performances I have a contemporary laid-back performance style, which I think really helps the magic shine. I'm also very comfortable with any type of audience put me in front of an intimate party with the board of directors, no problem, I can talk business or put me in front of a drunk group at a Bucks party, no problem, I can entertain them as well. I think that's one of my strongest assets.
If I'm performing Roving Magic, I don't have any setup at the venue, so I generally just arrive 20 minutes or so before performance starts. If I'm performing a stage show, I'll generally perform a sound check, check the levels of my backing tracks, the microphone, etc., and set a few props, generally an hour before the show is comfortable.
