Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

That’s a tough one to choose! I genuinely love the variety, from intimate soulful settings to big stages and full-on dance floors. Every venue and audience brings a different energy, and that’s a big part of what keeps performing exciting for me.

What's your favourite type of event?

I love events with great energy, a touch of glamour and something creative or artsy in the mix. But ultimately, it’s the people who make it. A great crowd, good energy and the right atmosphere are what turn an event into a vibe.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started working professionally in music at 13, so I’ve been at this for quite a while and have pretty much been here, there and everywhere along the way! My career has taken me through studio work, original music, songwriting, TV, film, commercial projects and international touring.

Over the last 10+ years, live cover and event bands have become a bigger part of what I do alongside my original and studio work. I’ve performed everything from intimate settings to galas, festivals and larger stages, across plenty of different genres and lineups.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I grew up on Motown and all the greats: Michael Jackson, Prince, Whitney Houston, Lisa Stansfield, Annie Lennox, The S.O.S. Band, Roger & Zapp and so many more. Soul, R&B, funk, pop and anything with a serious groove have all shaped me as an artist. Picking one favourite artist or the greatest song of all time is pretty much impossible for me. There’s far too much great music out there!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Setup and soundcheck usually take around 60–90 minutes, depending on the lineup and venue setup. Typical performance times are 2 x 45-minute sets or 3 x 40-minute sets, but we’re flexible and can tailor the set times to suit the event.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely! We’re happy to perform outdoors, provided there is a suitable covered performance area, safe power supply and adequate protection from rain, direct sun and extreme weather conditions.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Absolutely, I’m open to requests within reason and always happy to shape the repertoire to suit the event. It depends on the project, lineup and preparation time available. A few special requests can usually be discussed, while learning a completely new or customized set would be considered a different type of booking and quoted accordingly.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Soulful, energetic, professional and engaging, with a great feel for the room. I often hear that the performance feels polished but still spontaneous and genuine, and that we know how to connect with a crowd and bring the right energy without forcing it.
