About / Biography

As a singer with Syrian-Slavic roots, I not only speak many languages, but also master a variety of musical styles:

  • jazz
  • Ethno
  • pop
  • musical
  • Moderation

My motto:

MUSIC as a key to communication without mastering the other person's language, as an expression of all life circumstances, abolishing all that separates us.

For twenty years now, I have been performing as a professionally trained singer on stages both at home and abroad. I am hired for corporate events, as well as for community events and cultural centers. I also accompany summer festivals, birthday parties, and similar private celebrations.

If you'd like to add musical accompaniment to your event, I'd be happy to work with you to find a customized solution. I can accompany your event either with solo vocals or with my band. You decide which combination is the right choice for you and your event.

About my musical career:

Music has shaped my life from an early age. Even as a child and teenager, I enjoyed singing immensely, took singing lessons, performed in choirs in the Czech Republic, and participated in musicals.

When my studies took me to Germany, I continued to pursue my musical interests there. At the universities in Heidelberg and Tübingen, I was actively involved in music and theater projects, both on and offstage. I founded my own band with German-Czech colleagues and have been the singer of the jazz band "Barazi and Her Boys" since 2013 (performances at the Tübingen and Reutlingen Culture Night, in regional jazz clubs, etc.).

I devote myself to international ethno-folk music in the Tübingen project "Folklang" (led by Kathryn Doehner) and Folkbär in Berlin. I sing not only folk pieces in my native language (Czech and Slovak), but also pieces in Spanish, Arabic, Iranian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, etc.

Later I founded the women’s band “Sisorama”, in which I also devote myself to different musical styles and sing in different languages (jazz, ethno, chansons).

I also work on musical projects at the Franz.K cultural center in Reutlingen. With the "Easy Sunday Band," we strive to bring different musical styles to the stage, in dialogue with the band's reggae musicians (most of whom are of African descent).

In the Czech Republic, I play in two jazz bands. With "Connexion Jazz," I focus on original pieces, write lyrics, and often perform in trendy Prague jazz clubs. With the band "Jazz from Brno," I perform at festivals and other venues, such as "Meeting Brno," a multi-genre festival. The challenge here is to bring together musicians from different backgrounds. Since 2018, I have performed with this band in Leipzig, Dresden, Stuttgart, and Tübingen. In addition to the concerts themselves, we also offer a workshop called "How do blind musicians learn to play music?" Two musicians in the band are visually impaired.

As part of my teaching position at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Tübingen, I also enjoy devoting myself to literary and musical projects. With the project "Sounds and Words from Stuttgart," we introduce German music from the 1920s to the 1960s to foreign audiences. I also enjoy singing in German and would like to break the cliché about the less than pleasant sound of the German language. I would especially like to remind German audiences of an often-forgotten musical treasure.

In another project, I present Czech literature. In "Bass Saxophone," the history of Czech jazz music is brought to the audience through the narrative of J. Škvorecký, accompanied by Czech jazz music and singing.

I also perform as a guest in the University of Tübingen's Big Band. Since 2021, I've also been playing with jazz musicians from Stuttgart.

All in all, it's important to me to realize projects together with musicians from different countries. I want to use music to contribute to intercultural understanding.
