About / Biography

The Duchess sings classical arias, songs from musicals and modern songs in an operatic way, wearing an elaborate outfit to suit the theme of your event.

She will be accompanied by backing tracks.

The Opera-Diva wanders between the guests, serenading them with her operatic charms and entertaining them with her razor-sharp wit. She will make you laugh, cry, and ensure you have an event that everyone will remember.

This act is great for corporate and private events and can be tailored to meet your specific needs.

Various Victorian dresses are available, but a plain classic outfit is also an option and can be used for more serious occasions such as at weddings or funerals.

The length of the performance can be from 3 minutes to 2 x 45 minutes, depending on your requirements.

The Duchess sang for the mare of Brighton, various private and corporate events and went to Glastonbury - and to Edinburgh - festival to receive a 5-star review.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

I performed at the Little Bay restaurants in Brighton, Clapham Junction and Croydon for many years.
I love to interact with the audience,
But I loved most of all, singing a beautiful rendition of a Beethoven song, that was re-arranged by the director of the Hove-actually- choir. They laid out a carpet of sound and, while I was standing on a balcony, I sang over their voices. It was a magical experience.

What's your favourite type of event?

Theatres, restaurants, private events...I guess all is special and beautiful when a song is shared and felt.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I studied Jazz at the Royal Conservatoire in Amsterdam, but always had a passion for singing Opera. I later studied Classical privately. To combine the two, I then started creating Cabaret shows, incorporating flamboyant dresses and wigs. My Cabaret shows became very popular and ended up at Glastonbury, Edinburgh and many more places.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

One of my favourite artists is Sumi Jo. You can hear her fighting spirit and persistence in her voice. But I am also a great fan of Maria Callas. She reminds me of Ella Fitz Jerald somehow, but then classical. I guess it's their way of approaching notes in a clear and neat way.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I take 30 minutes to set up, and 30 minutes to dress up, so I will be there an hour before the performance.

Are you happy to perform outside?

yes

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Requests are welcome. An additional fee of £50 per song is required, and ,as we are talking about Classical music, a one month notice.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Impressive, moving and fun!

Can I book you as several characters in one night?

es you can.
A popular thing that I do, is to change into several characters in one night.
Depending on request and the event, I can adapt outfits and songs.
From Opera diva to Lisa Minelli, Jazz diva, Edith Piaf, Carmen Miranda with fruit on my head, Marlene Dietrich, Shirley Bassey singing James Bond songs, or Dolly, anything is possible.
I can create new setlists, outfits or styles in whatever you want me to. I even was a mermaid once!

Can you walk about?

Yes I can. This act is great for walking about, dressed in Victorian outfit. I will inter-act with the audience.
