About / Biography

Sam Chara has always been a fan of strong women, and Dolly Parton is certainly one of them.

Whether it's because of the nine-to-five job or the rival we have in Jolene, we women need to keep our chests up, stand strong, and stick together.

This is a Solo-act. Sam chara is accompanied by backing-tracks.

I will need a dressing room or space, and clear directions of where to get and go. I will ber there an hour before the performance, to get changes and set up.

A PA for less then 80 people can be arranged. For over 80 people sound-equipment has to be organised by yourself.
Songs can be played in between sets if there is no DJ.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can provide a nice and fun DJ set in between my sets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

I was performing with two other Dollies at the White Night in Brighton. Each standing on a balcony, we were all singing together, filling the streets with Dolly power.

What's your favourite type of event?

I love private, intimate performances, but theatres are also great.
Many Dolly songs are beautiful and have much more than to just sing along to.
In a Theatre people sit down and listen to the stories and tales of each and every song. For a singer that's very satisfying. The audience and performer become one with a song.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

It all started with the wedding of my sister. She asked me to perform as Dolly. It was such a success, that now I still do. I love Dolly's songs and tales. She is an amazing songwriter and person. I feel proud and honoured to step in her persona.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Dolly Parton's songs are short stories. Did you know she writes a song every morning?! She still does now.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I take 30 minutes to set up, and 30 minutes to dress up, so I will be there an hour before the performance.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Any requests are welcome. If the song is not already in the repertoire, an addition fee of £50.- is required.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Great fun!

Can I book you as several characters in one night?

Yes you can.
A popular thing that I do, is to change into several characters in one night.
Depending on request and the event, I can adapt outfits and songs.
From Opera diva to Lisa Minelli, Jazz diva, Edith Piaf, Carmen Miranda with fruit on my head, Marlene Dietrich, Shirley Bassey singing James Bond songs, or Dolly, anything is possible.
I can create new setlists, outfits or styles in whatever you want me to. I even was a mermaid once!
