The Simon Burke Jazz Band plays a mix of New Orleans traditional jazz and songs from the American Songbook, with tunes made famous by artists such as Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Sidney Bechet, Duke Ellington and King Oliver. Simon has over 30 years' experience as a professional musician and is most regularly joined by Spike Perkins on upright bass and April Spain on piano. As a group, we have well over 100 years' professional performance experience. We generally play as a trio but are happy to augment our lineup to a quartet or even quintet with the addition of vocals, drums or a second wind instrument. We have played venues throughout New Orleans and have performed together since 2016.

Location and precise performance space - for example Convention Centre Hall X, upper / lower level. We prefer to have access an hour in advance of performance time to set up and work out any potential problems.

We like to arrive an hour in advance of performances. We typically play in 50 minute sets but are happy to perform up to 90 minutes continuously if needed.

We are happy perform requests but we will point out if a tune isn't really going to fit with us - for example rock tunes on trumpet don't generally sound great! We are always happy though to work with clients and perform requests and make suggestions for suitable tunes - for example a bride was recently delighted with our suggestion of Sinatra's 'I Love You Baby' as a wedding recessional.
