Soul Bossa Soul Bossa is a Bossa Nova and Jazz Trio based in Porto (Portugal).

Paulo Silva Melo completed a complementary guitar course at the Porto Conservatory of Music and graduated in classical guitar from the University of Aveiro. He studied at Visoká Skola Múzických Umení, Bratislava (Slovakia), where he worked with Joseph Zsapka and Zuzana Martináková. He attended masterclasses with various guitarists, including Leo Brouwer, Abel Carlevaro, Joseph Zsapka, José Pina, Paulo Vaz de Carvalho and Ricardo Silveira. He has given solo and chamber music recitals, most notably his collaboration with the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra in a concert with tenor José Carreras, conducted by David Gimenez. He is a founding member of the Vera Cruz, Quinteto Aruanda and Soul Bossa projects. He recently performed with Sérgio Godinho and the Bando dos Gambozinos at Cinema Batalha, as part of the screening of Duarte Coimbra's film evocative of the children's television series ‘Os amigos de Gaspar’. Currently, his work as a performer focuses on Bossa Nova and Brazilian Popular Music. He teaches at the Espinho Music Academy, Bando dos Gambozinos and the Guilhermina Suggia Music School.

João Cunha has a degree in Percussion and Jazz Drums from the Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espetáculo and a Master's in Music Teaching from the University of Aveiro. Since 2000, he has performed in prestigious concert halls in Europe, Africa and South America. He plays percussion with the group Drumming and as a guest musician with the Remix Ensemble Casa da Música. He has worked and played with Ivan Lins, Hermeto Pascoal, Michael Bolton, Anthony & the Johnsons, Maria Schneider, Richard Bona, Patrícia Barber, Mayra Andrade, Edmar Castañeda, Chris Cheek, David Binney, António Serrano, André Sarbib, Laurent Filipe, Orquestra de Jazz de Matosinhos, Orquestra de Jazz de Espinho, Kite, Kiko & the Blues Refugees, Rui Massena, Manuel Linhares, Diogo Vida, Luísa Sobral, Miguel Araújo, among others. On record, he has taken part in recordings for Antena 2; Bernardo Sassetti's ‘Unreal Sidewalk Cartoon’; ‘Música Presente, perspectivas para la música del siglo XXI’; Jesús Rueda's ‘Pocket Paradise’; Luís Tinoco's ‘Archipelago’, winner of the Play awards in the category of best classical music album in 2020. He has also recorded ‘Threadbare’ by Kiko & the Blues Refugees, ‘Boundaries’ by Manuel Linhares, ‘III’ by Rui Massena, published by Deutsche Grammophon, ‘Hamsa’ by Kite, ‘This is It’ by André Sarbib, ‘A Jazz Everning’ by André Sarbib and António Serrano, ‘Alegria’ by Diogo Vida, among others. He teaches at the Porto Conservatory of Music and the Vale do Sousa Conservatory; he is a Yamaha artist and an endorser of the Zildjian and Remo brands in Portugal.

Viola Ottomari is an Italian singer living in Portugal. She has a degree in foreign languages (Portuguese and English) from the Università degli Studi di Perugia and a passion for Bossa Nova and Brazilian popular music. She studied singing with Amélia Rabello, sister of guitarist Raphael Rabello, at the Portable Music School in Rio de Janeiro. She recently released the album Petricor with guitarist and composer Nino Costa.
