Born and raised in Cape Town, Anthony Koopman is a vibrant and versatile bassist whose sound is deeply rooted in the soul of South African music. After studying at P.R.O.M.T in 2003, he quickly carved out a name for himself in Cape Town’s music scene while touring internationally to London, the USA, Amsterdam, and Ukraine.
Since moving to Gauteng in 2007, Anthony has become a familiar face on stages across the country, performing with a wide range of acts spanning Gospel, Rock, Jazz, Party, and African Traditional/Jazz genres. He’s played major festivals, top-tier corporate events, and held long-term residencies at elite venues such as Fumo, Smoke, Mark Anthony’s, and the Saxon Hotel, where he entertained guests for six years.
In 2023, Anthony launched his solo career with the release of his debut album. His solo performances showcase a rich blend of South African influences with Soul, R&B, Jazz, and classic Golden Oldies—creating an immersive musical experience that’s both heartfelt and groove-heavy.

Because i am alone 1h30mins before the event (Or when needed) 2 x 45 mins sets or 3 x45 mins depending on what the gig requires.
We are happy to perform outside yes. depending on the weather. However very cold winter days it is very difficult to play or keep my instrument in tune.
We do have a fixed repertoire, but can learn new songs if we get them in advance, limited to 4 songs.
