Akoestische band The Square Cats bestaat uit een viertal met een passie voor Gipsy Jazz en vrolijke dansbare vintage muziek. De band bestaat uit twee gitaristen (slag en melodie) één saxofonist en één zangeres. De Square Cats zijn buiten spelend ontdekt op Kattenburgerplein in Amsterdam en daarna uitgegroeid tot volwaardige jazz band. Vandaar de naam "Square" (plein) en "Cats" van KATTENburgerplein.
Tijdens de live performances hebben de Square Cats veel contact met elkaar en met het publiek (met deze muziek kan het ook bijna niet anders). De genres die de band speelt gaan van "Bossa nova" tot "jaren 30 jazz". De Square Cats spelen voornamelijk covers en meezing-materiaal. Ook speelt de band een hand vol aan originals, dit kan een romantische ballad of dansbare jazz zijn.

akoestische band de Square Cats zijn voor zowel achtergrond en voorgrond muziek te boeken. De band kan als achtergrond band bijvoorbeeld iets zachter spelen om meer in te blenden met de sfeer. Als voorgrond kan de band volledig losgaan (voetjes in de lucht) en het publiek volledig meenemen in de muziek.
De Square Cats kunnen zelf de benodigde techniek meenemen. Dit is allemaal te bespreken van te voren het optreden.

Acoustic band The Square Cats consists of a four members with a passion for Gipsy Jazz and upbeat danceable vintage music. The band consists of two guitarists (percussion and melody) one saxophonist and one singer. The Square Cats were discovered playing outside on Kattenburgerplein in Amsterdam and then grew into a full-fledged jazz band. Hence the name ‘Square’ (square) and ‘Cats’ from KATTENburgerplein.
During live performances, the Square Cats have a lot of contact with each other and with the audience (with this music, it can hardly be otherwise). The genres the band plays range from ‘Bossa nova’ to ‘30s jazz’. The Square Cats mainly play covers and sing-along material. The band also plays a handful of originals, this could be a romantic ballad or danceable jazz.
BACKGROUND MUSIC OR PARTY
acoustic band the Square Cats can be booked for both background and foreground music. As a background band, for example, the band can play a little softer to blend in more with the atmosphere. As foreground, the band can go completely wild (feet in the air) and bring the audience completely into the music.
The Square Cats can bring their own necessary technology. This can all be discussed in advance of the gig.

We require 2 guitar amplifiers, 2 microphones, 2 mic stands, power sockets, cables ( Jack-Xlr ) . For us to play as a fully amplified band.
We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment.
we are able to bring our own amplifier,PA, microphone, mic stand etc.
yes, we are happy to play music from spotify before, after and between our sets.
We have performed in the garden of the Hermitage, this must be one of the most beautifull places we have played!
We love to play weddings and proposals. Since we can create a romantic athmosphere. oh yeah, and its easy to make the audience dance!
The whole band has played gigs for a very long time. Before we met we already played Jazz and Gipsy jazz at various places across Amsterdam and beyond.
Django Reinhart and the Rosenberg Trio. These are major names in the Gipsy jazz that have inspired us from a very young age.
Ella Fitzgerald and Julie london are the singers favorite, she is inspired by the playfullness and rawness from Ella Fitzgerald and the "smoothness" of Julie London.
We normally arrive at least an hour before to set up. We normally perform 2x 45 minutes sets . But we sell different items, we can easily adapt with our set up.
yes, in summer or spring it will be no problem. In the colder months we prefer a heater or to play inside.
If they have a jazz request we could play it! we might need the phones to look at the chords if we dont know the song.
