Trio Cubano is a vibrant multicultural ensemble from Amsterdam that plays salsa, cha-cha, and reggaeton. The group consists of a Puerto Rican, a Cuban, and a Dutchman, creating a rich mix of musical influences. They found each other in the capital through their shared passion for Caribbean rhythms. Their performances are energetic, danceable, and create a summery atmosphere. The Van Elderen Trio Cubano performs at festivals, parties, and cultural events both nationally and internationally. Their music connects people and leaves no one unmoved.

Client must provide:
* A space of 8 m2
* Electricity
* Sound System/PA
* Protection in case of bad weather
* We need to know the amount of people that we're playing for
* We need to know whether there is a soundsystem available
Preferably, the client needs to take care of that. If this is not possible, we need to add an extra €250,- to our fee.
Unfortunately, this we can not do.
Hands down, the wildest and most unforgettable gig I ever played was a Puerto Rican block party in Rotterdam. It was one of those nights where the Dutch weather tried to ruin everything, but the crowd simply refused to let it happen.
Weddings are my favourite events because they let us shape the entire atmosphere from start to finish. We begin with soft background music that sets a warm, elegant mood. As the evening builds, we slowly add more rhythm and energy. By the later sets, we can turn the night into a full-on party. It’s the perfect mix of emotion, flow, and celebration for a band like ours.
We actually started gigging through a weekly Latin jam session — a real descarga — in a small café in Amsterdam. What began as a casual gathering of musicians quickly grew into a tight, energetic band.
We've been shaped by a wide range of artists — from the old masters of Cuban son like Buena Vista Social Club and Beny Moré, to salsa legends such as Héctor Lavoe, Rubén Blades, and El Gran Combo.
At the same time, I love staying current, so modern reggaetón artists like the Cuban Gente de Zona also play a big role in our sound.
Our trio features a male vocalist who also plays piano or guitar. He’s supported by bass and drums, and both musicians sing backing vocals. This setup gives us flexibility for different events. For concerts, we usually perform one set of about an hour. For weddings or parties, we typically play two or three sets of 45 to 50 minutes.
Here’s a softer, more story‑like version that still fits in three lines:
We love playing outdoors — it feels like the music breathes a little easier out there.
Being a Caribbean band, the sunshine suits us just fine. All we ever ask is a bit of shade when the heat gets fierce, so we can keep the rhythm flowing.
We do have a set repertoire that we normally perform. However, Cients are welcome to suggest a couple of songs that we can include, as long as they fit our style and we receive the suggestions well in advance before the performance.
Previous clients often describe our performances as festive and full of energy. They appreciate how interactive the frontman is with the crowd.
We combine authentic Cuban rhythms with a warm, engaging stage presence, creating an atmosphere that gets every audience moving.
