" John V. • July 3, 2019 What a wonderful show for us Johnny Cannella recently DJ'd and performed at the scholarship awards lunch for the Grumman-Northrop Grumman Retiree Club. Johnny was great. He prepared well, planning in advance with music for the audience we described to him. He had the audience, both young and old, dancing to the tunes they loved and enjoying his singing. He brought attendees, both retirees and the high school graduates and their families, into the fun of the event, but in an unembarrassing way. We've never seen so many attendees say how much they loved a DJ and asking for his card. We certainly hope to bring him back."

"Look, I’m gonna be straight with you. Big Italian family, lot of opinions, very particular about how a wedding’s supposed to feel. From the church to the reception, the music carried the whole night. My Aunt Rosa, who hates everything, pulled me aside and said it was beautiful. That never happens. Book and thank me later."

"If Dr. John and Tom Waits leave you wanting more, lend your ear to one-of-a-kind Aussie artist Pugsley Buzzard, who assimilates their piano playing, singing and songwriting style into his own blues-jazz musical distillation. On this, his fourth solo CD since 2007’s Hammer These Tongs, Buzzard delivers an all-original set recorded in New Orleans, Melbourne and the Blue Mountains. The Aussie backing musicians are so hip to Buzzard’s swampy Crescent City-influenced grooves that it’s difficult to tell which tracks were recorded where. Complementing the Big Easy contingent of tenor and baritone saxophonist Jimmie Carpenter, trumpeter Antonio Gambrell, trombonist Craig Klein, double bassist Nathan Lambertson, guitarist John Fohl, drummer Charles Brewer and singer Irene Sage, is an equally talented band of top local players. The opening bars of the lead-in blues mambo instrumental ‘Cigarstore Indian’, on which Buzzard’s commanding piano echoes Professor Longhair, James Booker and Allen Toussaint all rolled into one, promises a bourbon-drenched musical trip to follow. Buzzard doesn’t disappoint, his gravelly Joe Cocker-by-way-of-Coco Robicheaux vocals and pulsating piano serving up a solid mix of New Orleans R&B from the Fats Domino styled ‘Dirty Kings’ and the inventive minor-key rave-up ‘Gumbo Boogie’, to the gris-gris-soaked, Night Tripper hoodoo funk of ‘Po’ Boy’, ‘Fire In The Hole’ and ‘Mischief’. The Dixieland flavoured ‘Sin City Lights’ gives way to ‘Salamanca Blues’ a solo instrumental displaying Buzzard’s mastery of stride piano. "The first thing I noticed about CJ was his ability to interact and engage the audience. He performs with energy and passion. As a pianist myself, I was amazed at his abilities. He can pick out a number on the spot and nail it in all the details. What amazed me the most, though, was his level of playing complicated pieces from jazz and classical greats, then to transition into pure audience pleasers and get the audience going. After hearing CJ at several nightclub events, I invited him to collaborate with some very respected musicians. He interacted with them beautifully. Then I recommended him for a friend's wedding. We went together to see him and she knew immediately he would be perfect for her wedding entertainment. "

"Chloe's Wedding in Pentland Hills, Nov 2024 Andrew was incredible. We hired him for both my dad's 60th and then my wedding a few weeks later and both times he blew us away. All of our guests were commenting on how good he was. We just let him do his thing and he gauged the audience and played the perfect music. We not only love his style and voice but him as a person, he was an absolute delight to have on our special days. "

"It was back to the tributes next with Dame Shirley Bassey being portrayed fabulously, in my view, by Carolynn May. Here we heard a top notch voice and the chosen songs were beautifully delivered. All in all, Ms May presents a whole package. I can see this fine artiste working the cruise ship cabaret scene and/or the better-quality hotel scene. "Greg Ballad's tribute was an absolute masterpiece! His rendition of Luther Vandross's classics was so spot-on, it gave me chills. Then seamlessly transitioning to the deep, velvety tones of Barry White and the soulful essence of Teddy Pendergrass, Greg's performance was a journey through the soul's greatest hits. A must-see!"
