Review Centre: 1920s Era Musicians & Bands

"Doesn’t time fly by! Two weeks today since we got married and you came along to keep us entertained. It was an amazing day and you and your band contributed immensely. From the moment I contacted you I knew we had made the right choice. Your communication and understanding was excellent. Our 1930s theme fit right in with the venue and your style of music. We received lots of comments from our guests about how lovely it was to sit on the lawn drinking Pimms listening to you play whilst we were off having photos taken. It was so relaxing and elegant. Like being on a film set, one guest said. I think what made it for me was when all the guests had gone inside to sit down for the meal and we were passing some hotel guests sitting on the terrace enjoying the sun. As I walked passed one gentleman starting clapping and commented how beautiful I looked and thanked me for providing such wonderful music that he had enjoyed listening to; a real unexpected pleasure. In fact the venue told me the following day that quite a few hotel guests had commented on the great music. The evening was astounding. In the DJ sets you provided between Dr Jazz’s live sessions you managed to fit in all our guests’ special songs. This made it a lot more personal. And thank you so much for rearranging one of your songs to fit in with the routine we had learned for our first dance. This just shows how versatile and amenable you are. We would like to thank you for coming and making our wedding day most enjoyable, not just for us but for our guests. I have already been recommending you and will continue to do so."

"Well hello, it’s Larry Richmond back on the entertainment scene, and so good to be attending live entertainment again. On Sunday 20th February I attended the Pheasantry in Chelsea, to see Lorraine & The Flames. This gig was produced by Aspects Productions and presented in association with Pizza Express Live. I had previously seen the band’s showreel and was looking forward to seeing them live on stage. The Pheasantry is one of London’s top two cabaret rooms. I arrived well in time to order a meal and a bottle of wine. The show started at 8.00 pm. The venue was full. After an introduction by the compere, Lorraine looking stunningly elegant in her long glittering dress entered the room from the above stage balcony and slowly descended the stairway singing her opening song. Throughout the 90 min show, consisting of two 45 min sets, Lorraine backed by her excellent band of piano, bass, drums, and guitar, gave us the best of the American songbook in a relaxed and stylish style which was a joy to hear and see. I understand that Lorraine Heavey was a successful professional performer in her native Ireland during the early part of her career, and then gave up performing to marry and start a family. How glad I am that this talented lady has decided to return to her showbiz career and is now performing again. Lorraine Heavey has that certain element that we call ‘star’ quality. I hear through the grapevine that Lorraine and The Flames will be performing again at the Pheasantry later this year on the 6th Sept and at another of London’s top cabaret rooms, The Crazy Coqs, on the 3rd of October. "Fleur sang a beautiful set for our wedding in August. She sang a gorgeous mix of dance numbers and slower romantic ones, and made our reception very special. She was a delight to have there with us and tailored her set to include our requests as well. I'm so glad we booked Fleur and can't recommend her enough for any occasion - she is relaxed, elegant and has such a beautiful voice, it set such a lovely tone for our evening. Thank you, Fleur!! "

"What an entertaining band last night at the VJC at Clayton RSL. The High Society Jazz Orchestra played a magical mix of Big Band numbers from a number of eras. They not only played well, but looked the part in their dinner suits and lovely dresses. The music kept dancers on the floor all night and the audience looked very happy with the music - even the children were enjoying the night!"

"Better than our idols You only turn 65 once, that called for a party with 65 guests, excellent catering and live jazz music with a singer (Willem). We preferred the style of crooners Michael Bublé and Dennis van Aartsen, but this band was even better than our idols and exceeded our expectations; great music, super professional, with fun band members. It became a top party with compliments about the music from all guests, young and old. We look back on it with great pleasure!"

"Trip for Biscuits are such an incredible band! They played at our wedding in July 2022, and we and our guests absolutely loved them. They were really helpful and friendly when communicating beforehand and answered any questions we had, and super professional throughout. Their performance was so great and had us all dancing, we loved all their covers. One of our friends' children told her dad that they were 'her favourite band ever'! :D Would 100% recommend them to anyone looking to book a great band."

"Rosie was great to work with from booking stage, on the night and post event. Our guests really enjoyed themselves as they were transported back to the 1920’s era and set the mood for the rest of the evening. Would highly recommend Decatur Street Jazz for future events!"
