Most of what decides whether a booking runs smoothly is settled before the band arrives, and it depends on the room. Venues in New Zealand range from function suites with a house PA and a fixed curfew to marquees and outdoor terraces where everything has to be carried in, and the same five-piece behaves quite differently in each.
A four or five-piece needs roughly 4 by 3 metres of flat, dry floor, more once a drum riser or a brass section is involved, plus two or three power sockets within reach of the stage area. Check the load-in route early, because stairs, a long carry from the car park, or a lift too small for a bass cabinet all add time, and some acts charge for it. Ask about a sound limiter before you commit to anything: a limiter set low will cut the power mid-song, and there is no way around it once you are there. Curfews work the same way, since an 11pm finish moves the whole running order earlier than most people expect.
Saturdays in peak season and the whole of December go first, often a year out, so the band you want can end up fixing your date rather than the other way round. Distance shows up on a quote as travel, and occasionally as accommodation when the finish time makes the drive home impractical. Friday and Sunday bookings widen the field considerably if the date is flexible. Ask what the travel figure covers, since some acts price it into the fee within a set radius and charge separately beyond it.
Most bookings in New Zealand come in around $1,750 for two live sets, with duos and trios below that and larger lineups with brass or extra vocalists above it. What varies more than the headline figure is what sits inside it. Check what the quote covers: travel, a DJ set or playlist between sets, and how long the band plays in total rather than how many sets they perform. Most acts take a deposit to hold the date with the balance due close to the event, and overtime is normally charged in half-hour blocks, so agree the finish time in writing rather than on the night.
The average price is $1,750 (NZD), with most priced from $350 to $6,500+. Contact the supplier you like for an accurate quote.

Ginger & Tonic
"The last show we saw was Gold Dust Woman, but I have been to almost all the shows and they keep getting better. Beautiful Charlotte and the talented band are such a great secret. Don't tell all the tourists! Alexa and I love squeezing into the Blue Door, it feels like a French cabaret, only funnier!! I always have a good buzzy earworm stuck in my head for days. Keep up the good work G&T xx 11 out of 10!!"

The Party Singers
"Absolutely brilliant night at our MUNZ Mid Winter Xmas Do on the 27th July at the Loons in Lyttelton. Can't thank The Party Singers enough. I have heard nothing but great comments regarding that night. IN FACT the crowd wished you would've kept going onto the early Hours 😅 they didn't want you to leave even after your 4hrs of NON STOP entertainment!! In all honesty it was the first time in 3 years that I have seen so many up on the dance floor and the Oldies stick around and Boogie the night away. FANTASTIC!! Thank you so much we will definitely re book you again for the next one. Very very happy thanks again"
Becky Mayes
"Becky was the perfect choice to provide music for our wedding! She has a powerful voice with the ability to sing various genres & styles of music from classic oldies to today’s top hits. Her approachable & friendly personality & bubbly sense of humour just added to the whole reception with our guests up dancing & having a ball! Would highly recommend Becky!"
The Gentlemen - Roaming Band
"A huge thank you to The Gentlemen! You were exceptional: an incredible atmosphere, great music, our guests (and us too) loved it!!"
Steve*ELVIS*Gold
"We had Steve Elvis come to make a surprise appearance at the cocktail hour during our Las Vegas wedding and he really set the tone for the party! We initially wanted a song or two and some photos, but he told us about his 30 minute wedding show and he really rocked the house. He did a great job at having me and my bride still being the center of it all, but brought the energy we wanted to get everyone on the dance floor. It's been about 3 weeks now, and our family and friends are still raving about what a great job he did and how much fun they had dancing with The King! Steve is a THE answer for your Las Vegas Elvis appearance!"
