Availability tightens around December and the summer wedding season, so the most in-demand acts in New Zealand are often booked six to twelve months ahead. Bands based close to your venue usually quote less, because travel time and any overnight costs are built into the fee. Ask what a quote covers before comparing two acts: some include PA and stage lighting, others price them separately.

Party bands in New Zealand play popular music across several decades, from Motown and classic rock to current chart hits, adjusting the setlist and energy to suit the room. Also called function bands, these acts usually run to 3 to 6 musicians and are booked for weddings, birthdays, corporate functions and private parties.
Set structure varies more than most people expect. A typical evening booking is two 45-minute sets with a break, and many bands supply a DJ playlist to cover the gap so the music never stops. Confirm how early the act needs access for setup, whether the venue has a sound limiter, and whether the band will learn a specific song for a first dance.
Rates for function bands in New Zealand range from $390 to $7,500+, with the average booking at $2,000. Band size is the biggest factor: a three-piece costs less than a six-piece with brass or a second vocalist. Performance length, travel distance and whether the act supplies its own PA and lighting all move the figure.
The average price is $2,000 (NZD), with most priced from $390 to $7,500+. Contact the supplier you like for an accurate quote.

Ginger & Tonic
"The last show we saw was Gold Dust Woman, but I have been to almost all the shows and they keep getting better. Beautiful Charlotte and the talented band are such a great secret. Don't tell all the tourists! Alexa and I love squeezing into the Blue Door, it feels like a French cabaret, only funnier!! I always have a good buzzy earworm stuck in my head for days. Keep up the good work G&T xx 11 out of 10!!"

The Party Singers
"Absolutely brilliant night at our MUNZ Mid Winter Xmas Do on the 27th July at the Loons in Lyttelton. Can't thank The Party Singers enough. I have heard nothing but great comments regarding that night. IN FACT the crowd wished you would've kept going onto the early Hours 😅 they didn't want you to leave even after your 4hrs of NON STOP entertainment!! In all honesty it was the first time in 3 years that I have seen so many up on the dance floor and the Oldies stick around and Boogie the night away. FANTASTIC!! Thank you so much we will definitely re book you again for the next one. Very very happy thanks again"
Becky Mayes
"Becky was the perfect choice to provide music for our wedding! She has a powerful voice with the ability to sing various genres & styles of music from classic oldies to today’s top hits. Her approachable & friendly personality & bubbly sense of humour just added to the whole reception with our guests up dancing & having a ball! Would highly recommend Becky!"
The Gentlemen - Roaming Band
"A huge thank you to The Gentlemen! You were exceptional: an incredible atmosphere, great music, our guests (and us too) loved it!!"
Audley Reid Saxophonist
"Audley played sax at our drinks reception and honestly, he was such a great choice. Just him and his sax, and the whole room felt warmer the second he started. Guests kept wandering over to listen, and a few came up to ask us who he was. He was super easy to work with too, showed up on time and just got on with it. We’d book him again in a heartbeat."
