Funk Bands for Hire in Basel

Q: How much do funk bands cost in Basel?

Pricing for funk bands ranges from CHF160 to CHF2,900+, with an average of CHF950. The main factors are band size, set duration and the style of funk. Line-ups with horn sections, backing vocalists and percussion tend to cost more than smaller guitar-driven combos.

Q: What events are funk bands suitable for?

Hiring funk bands is a popular choice for weddings, corporate parties, birthday celebrations, festivals and any event where a packed dance floor is the goal. Funk music has a broad, cross-generational appeal and is one of the most effective genres for keeping guests on their feet.

Q: Are different line-up sizes available for a funk act?

The funk bands on Gig Heaven range from compact four-piece groups to larger ensembles with horn sections, backing singers and percussion. A bigger line-up delivers a fuller, more powerful sound, while a smaller band can suit tighter venues and budgets. Many bands offer flexible line-up options.

Q: Do funk bands bring their own sound equipment?

Most funk bands are self-contained and provide their own PA system, instruments and amplification. For larger venues or outdoor events, additional sound equipment may be needed. It is worth confirming all technical requirements with the band before booking.

Q: Can a funk band provide music between their own sets?

Most carry a playlist to run through their PA during breaks so the room does not fall quiet. Some will also take a list of tracks to use in those gaps. Where the gap matters, such as during a meal, agree the break times when booking rather than on the night.

Q: What style of music do funk bands play?

The funk bands perform funk, soul, disco, R&B and groove-driven music. Many funk bands cover classic hits alongside modern songs, creating a setlist that is focused on tight rhythms, brass hooks and getting the audience dancing.

Q: Do funk bands always include a horn section?

Not always. Four and five-piece groups often work without one, leaning on guitar, keys and a strong rhythm section, while the larger acts carry brass as the defining sound. Horns cost more and need more stage, so the question is usually budget and space rather than repertoire.

Q: Is a funk band too loud for a smaller room?

Volume is manageable in most function rooms, as bands set up smaller and play with lighter dynamics when the space calls for it. Rooms with a noise limiter are the real constraint, particularly for drums and brass, which cannot be turned down the way amplified instruments can. Give the limiter level when enquiring and the band will say whether the booking works.

Q: Can I contact multiple suppliers at the same time?

Yes, either add suppliers to your favourites and contact them all at once, or use the find a supplier wizard .

Q: How far in advance do we need to book?

Saxophonist Georg Lehmann "Georg played at our wedding on Saturday 24th May 2025. Overall, he was excellent and everyone attended love the music! Booking via Gig Heaven was easy and Georg was easy to reach and to align on what music we wanted. On the day, we extended the session by a full 1.5 hours as everyone was having a great time! I would fully recommend Georg, he made our evening even more special with his excellent choice of music and quality of play. Thank you Georg!" The Gleams Project International Band "Michele is wonderful to work with. He is an amazing musician and singer, as well as DJ. He executed all of the music on our wedding day. For our ceremony, we had songs that we wanted played at specific moments from our playlist, and he nailed the timing. He and his band played beautiful music during cocktail hour and kept the energy up. He then DJed the music from our playlists of favorite songs for our reception and afterparty disco. Our friends were having so much fun and didn't want the evening to end, they even chanted "one more song" at the end of the night and Michele was kind enough to stay and oblige. We really enjoyed working with him and his band!" Based in Milan, Lombardy, Italy (164 miles from Basel) Victoria G. - Wedding

Jokebox "For our intimate wedding of 32 guests, Jokebox Band played at our ceremony and our reception. And what can we say: They exceeded any expectations we had by far. From the heartfelt acoustics in the church, that moved everyone to tears and blended seamlessly into our ceremony to the very fast transition into the garden into the full set band that brought the vibes, everything was perfect. The repertoire was fantastic to go all afternoon, blending jazz vibes and songs for everyone to dance to. When they played narcotic as the grand finale of their set, every single one of our guests was going all in and dancing like it was midnight at around 18:30. They really brought the party to our beautiful reception. Additionally, as regards organization: They were super professional, extremely responsive and completely self-sufficient. We did not have to organize a single thing on the day of and just knew everything would work seamlessly with them. We cannot recommend them enough!"
