"Wow, I love it! It’s a wild ride and sometimes it seems to be laughing at the listener… then there are the boats of jazzy pillows that carry you across the rapids. Very cool"

"Kenny Kirby [2021] - Playin' The Cracks (Selected Tracks) [Philly Fillet Records]
I came across this artist via DJ Melismo's (aka Mats Olofsson) latest podcast in which he played "Someday We'll All Be Free" (and what a version!), so decided to check out the rest of the album
Kenny Kirby's name may not be well known but he has been performing for over forty years with top acts such as Van Morrison, Charlie Grace, Sly & The Family Stone, Delfonics, Three Degrees, Major Harris, Billy Paul, Intruders, Blue Notes, Soul Survivors and was conductor for The Tymes.
He is a piano player from Birmingham, AL, and released, what looks like, his debut album "Playin' The Cracks" in April. It is mainly covers, smooth jazz, some instrumentals and some quite MOR tunes, but three tracks did get my attention. I'm fairly sure it's not Kenny singing as some of the vocals are female. No one else is credited on the album, so I'm guessing they are unnamed guest vocalists on the vocal tracks.
The three tracks are a cover of Donny Hathaway's "Someday We'll All Be Free", "Some Things Never Change" and "Ultimate Lover" a song written by Linda Creed and Dennis Matkosky."

"A Masterclass in Professional Saxophone & Performance!
If you are looking for top-tier musical professionalism, this is an absolute must-hire. As a retired Army musician with over 30 years of experience, Chris brings a level of discipline, talent, and "class" that is rare to find. His expertise shines through in every note, whether performing traditional jazz, swing, or beautiful holiday classics.
Chris’s soulful saxophone work—clearly influenced by greats like John Coltrane—is the highlight of the performance. He is incredibly versatile, having performed at everything from intimate weddings and private parties to military ceremonies and international concerts across the US and South America.
What makes this act stand out is the sheer reliability and adaptability. He arrives early, provides professional sound and lighting systems, and is happy to tailor the repertoire to include specific client requests. Whether you need sophisticated background music for a corporate gala or a lively performance for a celebration, Chris delivers a flawless, high-quality show every time. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a truly polished, world-class musician!"
