Jazz Singers for Hire in Douro Valley

The jazz singers perform a range of vocal jazz styles including classic standards, swing, bossa nova, soul-jazz, jazz-pop crossover and Rat Pack-inspired sets. Many jazz singers have a wide repertoire that spans several decades of popular and jazz music.

Hiring jazz singers is ideal for wedding receptions, cocktail hours, corporate events, gala dinners, private parties and restaurant entertainment. A jazz vocalist brings warmth, personality and sophistication to any occasion.

Many jazz singers perform with a live accompanist (usually piano or guitar), a small jazz combo or a full band. Some also offer performances with professional backing tracks. A live band provides the most authentic jazz experience. It is worth checking each singer's available formats.

Most jazz singers are happy to learn specific songs for special moments such as a first dance. Jazz singers are often skilled at arranging well-known songs in a jazz style. It is advisable to make song requests in advance to allow time for preparation.

Ceremony singing is less common than reception work, since the repertoire is different, but many singers will cover both where the timings allow. Drinks receptions, the meal and the evening are the usual slots, and they are often quoted as one booking rather than separately. Agreeing which parts of the day are covered at the enquiry stage avoids paying for gaps in between.

Small private events are common bookings, and a singer with one musician suits a room where a full group would overwhelm the space. Many performers scale the same set down for a private dining room and up for a larger function. Venue limits on volume or space are worth mentioning early, as they usually decide the format rather than the repertoire.

Dinner sets are a standard part of the work, pitched at a level that lets conversation carry rather than as a featured performance. The same singer will often lift the set afterwards, when the room is ready to listen or dance. Saying which parts of the evening are background and which are the focus shapes how the sets are built.
