Photo of Richard Ellis Hawley music Richard Ellis Hawley music "When Richard Ellis Hawley came out to New Zealand to visit Family and friends I took the opportunity to ask Richard if he would come and play the piano at the local rest home that I was doing voluntary work and Richard came and played to the residents for a couple of hours. Richard played a variety of songs from the era that the residents grew up with they loved him playing it was just wonderful it bought back memories to the residents and put a smile on their faces in fact they didn't want Richard to finish. Also I asked Richard for a CD he made of all his friends favourite songs including mine Unforgettable which was posted over to me in New Zealand where I live and I play it to my friends. Richard is a very gifted and talented musician would recommend him for all occasions." Everything about our experience was perfect from the communication to her performance. She learnt a new song for our aisle song and it was beautiful. All our guests loved the music during the ceremony and drinks reception. It was lovely to have a performance that was so elegant yet personal, I would recommend her to everyone." Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England (14 miles from Durham) 26th February 2026 Katy V - Wedding Photo of Laura Sutherland Saxophonist Laura Sutherland Saxophonist "I found Laura through a local music agency when I was considering the possibility of providing l music to our guests before our marriage ceremony and in the pre wedding breakfast period as a surprise for my husband. I was charmed be her manner when we first spoke. She instantly understood the mood I wanted to convey. She has an extensive repertoire and was able to provide music that absolutely fitted my ideas. I was a little concerned that it might be difficult for her to be heard outside but her amplification system was perfect for both indoor and outdoor performance. I would love an excuse to hire Laura again- we enjoyed her playing so much and our guests were so complimentary about her music. It was just perfect. I mean every word! We wish you so much success in your career. He was a fantastic addition to our wedding day and we are so glad that he was able to be with us. With clear communication and quick responses from first contact through to the day itself he was always very friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble for him and his range of music was fab. The added bonus of the pipers toast after being piped into our wedding breakfast was very special and a lovely touch. We would absolutely recommend Stevie to anyone even considering having bagpipes at their event!" Based in Bedlington, England (24 miles from Durham) Rory Maclagan - Wedding April 2023

Frequently asked questions

The average price for wedding musicians on Gig Heaven is £380, with rates from £120 to £1,300+. Pricing depends on the type of musician, the number of performers and how many parts of the wedding day are covered. All-day packages that span the ceremony, reception and evening entertainment typically offer better value than booking separately for each.

Most wedding musicians can perform during the ceremony (processional, signing of documents, recessional), the drinks reception, the wedding meal, and the evening party. Some artists offer all-day packages that cover multiple segments. It is advisable to browse profiles to find musicians who match the style and schedule of your wedding.

The most popular wedding musicians can be booked up many months in advance during wedding season. Gig Heaven recommends securing your preferred artists six to twelve months before the wedding date. Less popular dates or midweek weddings may have more availability at shorter notice.

Most wedding musicians are self-contained and provide their own instruments and PA system for standard wedding venues. For larger venues, outdoor ceremonies or marquees, additional amplification may be needed. It is a good idea to confirm equipment details with the musician.

Many wedding musicians are happy to learn a special song for a key moment such as walking down the aisle or the first dance. It is worth making any song requests well in advance to allow time for preparation and rehearsal.

The wedding musicians include a huge range of performers suited to different parts of a wedding day, including string quartets, harpists, pianists, acoustic duos, jazz bands, singers and party bands. Many musicians offer packages covering multiple parts of the day.
