Two dhol players and a folk singer. Everyone was on there feet, and the dancefloor was packed full of energy. Will definitely recommend prem" Based in Birmingham, England (12 miles from Wolverhampton) 8th April 2026 Jag - Jaggo Photo of The Dhol Unit The Dhol Unit "OMG the best Dhol players ever. Everyone at the event was talking about how amazing they were. The way they made an entrance with the bharathi behind was outstanding. All dressed in a beautiful traditional black attire and coordinated in every manner. Even the event manager said it’s by far the best he has seen. Thank you so much for making the day even more special honestly had it not been for the lads I can honestly say it would’ve been bland. Everything arranged over the phone for the time of arrival and the lads were already there waiting. Thank you again hopefully we will meet again soon." We came up with a playlist together a month before and as soon as she started playing everyone jaw's dropped! We will definitely book Roksana for our wedding day, she gave us such incredible evening! Highly Recommended" Based in Birmingham, England (12 miles from Wolverhampton) James - Proposal Photo of Reggae Winehouse Reggae Winehouse "I got an all-clear result from my PCR Test yesterday, so last night I ventured out to the Jam House to see how much the Brummie music culture had advanced during my almost 2-year absence. Last nights gig was a new venture called Reggae Winehouse a Brummie band with three vocalists doing Reggae versions of Amy Winehouse's repertoire. I liked the idea, and so did a lot of other Brummies who turned out to make a fantastic night. I am old enough to remember when the Windrush Generation started to arrive in Brum bringing their love of music and enjoyment with them. A few of that generation were present last night along with their grandchildren. By the time that the second set started the Jam House was bouncing around St Pauls Square and you couldn't tell the difference between the multiple ethnicities on the dancefloor, we were all just Brummies filled with Joy. I semi walked semi danced on my way home in the early hours, thinking to myself how lucky I am to be a Brummie. The Jam House did our City proud last night, and after 10 years I finally saw the lead singer I always knew was in there. Take a bow Leonie Smith and the rest of your brilliant band !! #nuffsaidfred #ILuvMyCity" Based in Sutton Coldfield, England (13 miles from Wolverhampton) Fred rose - Live gig

Frequently asked questions

The average price for world music on Gig Heaven is £420, with rates from £120 to £1,550+. Cost depends on the number of musicians, performance duration and the musical tradition involved. World music spans an enormous range of styles and instrumentation, so the format and scale of the act are the main pricing factors.

The world music acts include performers from a vast range of musical traditions including African, Latin, Asian, Middle Eastern, Celtic, Caribbean, Balkan and many more. Many acts offer fusion styles that blend traditional sounds with modern genres.

Many world music acts offer drumming circles, dance workshops or music-making sessions as part of their booking. These interactive elements are popular at festivals, corporate events and school programmes. It is advisable to ask about workshop options when contacting performers.

Acts using large traditional instruments need more floor space than a standard stage plan allows, and some perform standing or moving through the room rather than from one spot. Performances that move need a route agreed with the venue rather than a stage. Giving the act the room dimensions and saying whether the performance is fixed or moving lets them advise on what fits.

Many world music acts specialise in the music of particular regions or cultures and can provide an authentic experience including traditional instruments, costumes and customs. To get the best results, specify the cultural tradition you are looking for when browsing or making an enquiry.

Many acts perform in the language of the tradition they play, and some mix that with English-language material across a set. Where the audience is mixed, performers often introduce songs briefly so the room follows what is coming. Ask at the enquiry stage if the balance matters, as it is usually straightforward to adjust.

Most world music acts bring their own traditional instruments, which are often rare or specialist items not readily available. For workshops where participants need instruments, these are usually provided by the performer. Gig Heaven recommends confirming what is included.

Hiring world music suits a wide range of events including multicultural weddings, corporate diversity events, international festivals, themed parties, cultural celebrations and educational workshops. World music brings authentic cultural experiences to events and appeals to diverse audiences.

Line-ups run from a solo player to ensembles of eight or more, and the tradition usually sets the shape: some styles are built around a group of players while others centre on one or two instruments. Smaller line-ups suit ceremonies, receptions and background playing, while larger groups suit festivals and outdoor events. Supplier profiles list the sizes each act offers, and many will quote for more than one.
