Andrew 'Sax' Bruell, Keen Saxophonist and Busker with a huge repertoire (1300+) of well known songs covering a range of genres, styles and Eras, including pop, rock, lively, dance, soul, jazz, sweet/romantic, old time era (1920s - 1980s), church, classical and Christmas music, played against a carefully selected backing track, playing to a small room for an intimate gig or powerful enough for up to a crowd of 300, inside or out, mainly on Alto but also on Bari (deep and groovy) or Tenor (mellow jazz).
I busk for charity but I regularly get approached to play private gigs which I'm happy to do - large parties and events, intimate performances, wedding background music, proposals, funerals, at a club or pub - willing to give a great price for a really pleasant lyrical sound. If you have a special requests for your occasion I can make up fresh arrangements to your specification for nearly all popular songs, just ask when quoting.

For larger, longer gigs, I require mains power (although I have an off-grid setup available on request)
I cannot perform outdoors in excessive wind, or any rain. I can bring a pop-up gazebo if necessary.
Depending on the logistics of the venue I can perform for an intimate event in as little as 1m x 1m. For a loud event with dancing my sound system and instrument storage needs around 2m x 3m to safely operate.
I will need to know the exact location of the venue after booking. Prior to booking I will need to know of any noise restrictions (eg. sound limiters, requirements to use installed sound system); Parking availability onsite or very nearby (particularly for larger, noisier gigs where carrying 40kg speakers a long distance is not practical).
I will bring along all sound equipment required. If you book me to play recorded music as well as sax, I will bring along some modest lighting equipment, if more is required please contact me and I can arrange a full setup.
Yes, my sound system is capable of playing music when I am not playing, and I can play your choice of music for the whole evening if required, please explain your requirements at the time of booking and I'd be happy to help.
A played a wedding drinks reception for 100 people at the RAC club, Pall Mall, London, which was a fantastic balcony venue.
I love playing many events to mark special occasions in people's lives; birthdays, weddings, and proposals are all exciting, but I also understand the importance of other occasions such as funerals. And I get regular gigs playing Jazz in Restaurants.
Just before I retired from a stressful office job I took up the saxophone, and on retirement I started busking to raise money for local charities. People wanted to hire me to play for them and I haven't looked back, having played over 100 gigs in the last 3 years.
I like a wide range of music reflecting my life's experience from Elvis, to Elton to Ed Sheeran. I rather like 'Fly Me to the Moon' and it seems to work at jazz events, weddings and many other happy occasions.
Depending on the number of guests and the occasion, I can set up in 10-35 minutes. My typical booking is for two hours (with a 1 minute break) however I offer my clients the opportunity to extend up to 4 hours playing (unless I have another commitment), and many of them take me up on this as they are enjoying my music. The price for playing longer once I have arrived is relatively modest. I prefer not to travel for hours to play for a very short time, however if there is a special reason for a short performance (eg. a proposal) I'm always willing serve if available.
Yes, I'm used to playing outside. In case of the risk of inclement weather I will bring a gazebo, and can lend one to you if required.
Absolutely, every client has a different idea and musical experience in life , so I give each client the choice to pick from my complete 1400+ song setlist. Alternatively, I am happy to recommend a setlist if clients prefer, as long as I know what kind of music or vibe they are looking for this is also successful. I can also learn new songs at client's request, up to four per gig (for a fee), and for a wedding booking I assume you will require a special song and/or arrangement, and price accordingly. I can also play along with your DJ, provided I can get in contact with him to work on his setlist in advance.
Most say I make a beautiful, amazing sound (but please check out my sound as every saxophonist sounds different); that I am professional in my approach, and that I play with passion and enthusiasm.
I don't reveal the names of my clients who are mainly private individuals.
I typically take on about 40 gigs a year including
- Corporate Events (including local railway promotion, and Sax Brunches at a French Restaurant chain)
- birthday parties around London and the home counties ages 1 - 90 years
- Wedding receptions
- Surprises for birthdays and proposals
