About / Biography

Bluchacha offers uplifting, eclectic music with a jazzy feel and a Latin groove. Our main drive is based on Bossa Nova, Samba, Salsa and Cha Cha - feel good rhythms. We also cross over into Funk, Reggae, Ska and Jazz Standards, some as instrumentals only. We play original music and also cover well known songs with a Latin feel twist. Our Frank Sinatra style singer covers the Standard Jazz side and Trombonita sings German and English songs from the 60's and 70's over home cooked Latin beats!

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Our stage should have a minimum size of 14' x 12'. We require a 2x13 amp power sockets and minimum 4 parking spaces.

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, we can bring our own PA system to our gigs. We do not have stage lightning, only music stand lights.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Sure, we’re happy to stream music through our PA system before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

We performed at Six Flags, and draw a big crowed in the middle of all those crazy rides. Whenever we played at the Cutting Room in NYC, people really come to liste to our music.

What's your favourite type of event?

We love all type of private events, corperate events and weddings. The crowd is always happy and ready for a dancing party mode.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

BluChaCha played small venues all over the city but over the years we got noticed and were able to pick up on high paying events. Festivals are really what we love to get into.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Fania All Stars, Willie Colon and Tito Puente are big idols for us, only to name a fiew. Berry Rodgers speaks to all of us trombonists in the band. But we also love Cuban music, Buena Vista Social Club and not to forget the sounds of Brazil, Bossa Novas and Sambas by Carlos Jobim and Cartola. Other great artists we follow are Carlos Santana, Mongo Santamria and Ray Baretto known for their mastery of Afro-Cuban rhythms.

Would you go travel for special gigs or play on a cruisse ship?

Yes, we are ready to go anywhere, internationally or local. Playing is what we desire.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We like to arrive about 2 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets. But sometimes we give 2.5 sets to round it alll up, depending on the time slot given. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that the 2 hour set times suit us and our audiences best.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade if possible, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area. Rain protection is a must though depending on the weather forecast.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can manage one or two special request songs if there is enough time to arrange it for the band. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them. We hae a very versatile song book and be happy to mix it up to out clients needs.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Theatrical and uplifting, eclectic music is what we often hear. The groove puts you right on the dance floor, may it be a slw or fast dance.
