Charne Hugo – South African powerhouse vocalist, motivational force & crowd favourite
Charne Hugo is one of the most uplifting and genuinely captivating performers currently working in South Africa. Born and raised in Cape Town, she turned what many would see as limitation into her signature strength: a magnetic stage presence, a crystal-clear voice, and an unbreakable spirit that connects instantly with audiences of every age and background.
After gaining national attention as one half of the popular Afrikaans duo Die Lieflinge alongside Rudi Claase (where they collected a Ghoema Music Award for Best Light Classical Album and built a loyal following across the country), Charne has confidently stepped into her solo identity. Her repertoire effortlessly moves between soulful ballads, powerful Afrikaans originals, uplifting pop covers, and feel-good duets that leave crowds smiling, singing along, and often on their feet.
What truly sets Charne apart is the energy she brings to every performance. Whether she’s delivering a goose-bump-inducing rendition of a classic, performing one of her own uplifting originals, or turning a theatre into a giant sing-along, audiences consistently describe her shows as “joyful”, “inspiring”, and “impossible to sit still during”. Add her natural warmth, quick humour, and the authentic story she carries – and you have the complete package: a headline act that feels both intimate and larger-than-life.
Event organisers and audiences keep coming back because Charne doesn’t just sing – she creates moments people remember for years. If you’re looking for a performer who will lift the mood of your festival, corporate event, theatre show, wedding reception, or community concert, and leave everyone feeling a little more alive… Charne Hugo is the booking that makes the night unforgettable.

My favorite venue to sing at is the Artscape theatre in Cape Town, of which i am a regular feature at their shows. The biggest show i have ever sang at was at the Afrikaans show "Krone"
Corporate events and live shows to crowds that enjoy good "real" music are my favorite
I first captured hearts as one half of the popular Afrikaans duo Die Lieflinge alongside Rudi Claase, where we earned a Ghoema Music Award for Best Light Classical Album and built a devoted following across South Africa with our heartfelt performances.
Now, as a solo artist, I bring the same passion and energy to every stage ā moving effortlessly between soulful originals, powerful Afrikaans ballads, uplifting covers and feel-good duets that get crowds singing along and smiling from the very first note. My shows are joyful, intimate, and impossible to sit still for ā exactly the kind of live experience people remember long after the lights go down.
If you want a performer who will lift your event and leave your audience buzzing, Iād love to bring that magic to your stage.
Whitney Houston - One moment in time . For sure my favorite to sing as well as my ultimate influence
