Vinyl DJ | Jazz DJ with vintage records

The best of jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop, and R&B, played from authentic records. Whether paired with a live band or not, our vinyl DJ will add a unique touch of class and atmosphere to your wedding, party, or corporate event.

Great musical accompaniment

Are you looking for amazing musical accompaniment for your business event, wedding or private party and you want to be able to effortlessly converse with your guests, but also have the opportunity to have a good time to dance?

Look no further! The vintage vinyl DJ from the Jazz Central Agency is the ultimate mood setter at your event. With the best of jazz, soul and funk from the 60's-70's-80's—and if desired, an excursion into contemporary hip-hop, R&B and house, all played by authentic gramophone records—our vinyl DJ has been a great success at small and large events for years. The artisanal The spinning skills of our DJ are a spectacular element during your event or party.

Modest volume

One of the most important features of our DJ is that he plays music on civilized volume. You don't have to converse with a loud voice, because our DJ adjusts the volume very well to the situation. At low volume when necessary, and nicely present when the situation demands and allows it.

The best music from pure vinyl

Our vinyl DJ only plays stand-alone, so not in line-up with a saxophonist or other horn player. That way the music comes into its own most — his repertoire doesn't need such an addition either.

You sometimes see a saxophonist playing with a DJ, but that is more of an 'all-round' DJ. In that case the DJ plays certain beats or a mix which offers room for solo work.

At the Jazz Central Agency we believe that our DJ with his beautiful collection gramophone records, gives the ultimate look and character to your event.

The music that our DJs bring on vinyl is not downloaded from the internet in the blink of an eye, but is the result of years of research and hoarding mania. Every LP or single has a story.

Apart from the presentation and the story it is ultimately about the sound. In that respect, the quality of vinyl is still undisputedly the most beautiful.

How can you book our vinyl DJ?

A performance of our jazz DJ can be an addition to your wedding or event in various ways.

  1. As a solo DJ who provides music for several hours;
  2. As a DJ that plays in combination with one of our jazz bands;
  3. As a spectacular closing of your party, after one of our jazz bands has performed;

1. Solo DJ performance

Of course you can hire our jazz DJ as a "stand-alone" act. He then spins the best jazz, funk and soul of gramophone records for a number of hours (often three hours, but other times are also possible).

Our jazz & soul DJ will run your wedding party like this; In the beginning he will play more calm music that is somewhat more in the background, but as the evening progresses, he will get you and your guests on the dance floor and turn up the volume a bit. He also adjusts the playlist to make a lively party happen.

2. Live jazz band in line-up with our DJ

Our DJ can complement a live performance by one of our jazz bands. He will then play great music before, afterwards and in the breaks. In that way, the music and the atmosphere merge beautifully, without the vibe being interrupted too much when the jazz band pauses. Like this we could put together an arrangement of a number of hours, in which the DJ complements the jazz band excellently.

3. Closing act after a live performance

You could also book our vintage vinyl DJ to play after one of our live bands. This is a frequently booked arrangement where our DJ takes over after our live jazz band has played for a number of hours—for example during a dinner—. He will get your guests dancing and swinging at the end of the day and you benefit from the best of both worlds: the beautiful appearance of a live band, and also the vibe and dynamics of the vinyl DJ.

Genres, style and repertoire

The soul and funk of the rich '60 and '70 era are the main source for our jazz DJ, who has plenty, if not all, to choose from. To spice things up and complement, jazz and latin from the 50's are also played occasionally, and sometimes a tune from the “eighties” pops up. In the later hours, contemporary artists with hip-hop, R&B and house are also a tempting option!

What is needed?

There are not many requirements for the use of our vinyl DJ. One power outlet is actually sufficient.

We take along modest and tasteful lighting and, if necessary, provide speakers, turntables and other equipment so that you can concentrate on other things.

The surface that our jazz DJ needs is very modest. With about 2 by 2 meters we have what we need, but of course also take into account a possible dance floor!

Where do we travel and perform?

Our jazz DJs can perform anywhere in the Netherlands, Belgium, western Germany and Luxembourg.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We need a performance space of at least approx. 2 by 2 meters. A normal 230V power socket is required.

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, we’re completely self contained. We bring our own PA system to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to play music from our curated playlist before, after and between our sets.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Usually we arrive 60 minutes in advance. In general we are booked 2-4 hours, but other time frames are always to be discussed. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

You can easily let it to the pro's to decide which song to play, so you can focus on other important things and your guests!

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Without exception our clients rate us with 5 stars, indicating an exact match between our performance and their expectations. Or maybe even exceeding expectations!
