Vinyl DJ | Jazz DJ with Vintage Records

The best of jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop, and R&B, played from authentic records. Whether paired with a live band or not, our vinyl DJ adds a unique touch of class and atmosphere to your wedding, party, or corporate event.

Great Musical Accompaniment

Looking for amazing musical accompaniment for your business event, wedding, or private party — something that lets you converse easily with your guests, but also gives everyone the chance to get up and dance?

Look no further! The vintage vinyl DJ from the Jazz Central Agency is the ultimate mood-setter for your event. With the best of jazz, soul, and funk from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s — and, if desired, an excursion into contemporary hip-hop, R&B, and house, all played from authentic gramophone records — our vinyl DJ has been a firm favourite at small and large events alike for years. Our DJ's artisanal spinning skills are a spectacular element of your event or party.

Modest Volume

One of the best things about our DJ is that he plays music at a civilised volume. You won't need to raise your voice to hold a conversation, since our DJ adjusts the volume carefully to suit the moment — low when it needs to be, and nicely present when the situation calls for it and allows it.

The Best Music, Straight from Vinyl

Our vinyl DJ performs solo only, not paired with a saxophonist or other horn player, so that the music can truly come into its own — his repertoire doesn't call for that kind of addition anyway.

You'll sometimes see a saxophonist playing alongside a DJ, but that's typically more of an "all-round" DJ set-up, where the DJ plays certain beats or a mix that leaves room for solo work.

At the Jazz Central Agency, we believe our DJ, with his beautiful collection of gramophone records, gives your event the ultimate look and character.

The music our DJs bring on vinyl hasn't simply been downloaded from the internet in the blink of an eye — it's the result of years of research and a genuine passion for collecting. Every LP or single has a story.

Beyond the presentation and the stories, it ultimately comes down to the sound — and in that respect, the quality of vinyl remains, without question, the most beautiful.

How Can You Book Our Vinyl DJ?

Our jazz DJ can be booked for your wedding or event in a number of ways:

  1. As a solo DJ providing music for several hours;
  2. As a DJ performing in combination with one of our jazz bands;
  3. As a spectacular closing act, following a performance by one of our jazz bands.

1. Solo DJ Performance

Of course, you can hire our jazz DJ as a stand-alone act. He'll spin the best jazz, funk, and soul from gramophone records for a number of hours (often three, though other durations are also possible).

Here's how our jazz and soul DJ typically runs your wedding party: at the start, he'll play calmer, more background-oriented music, but as the evening progresses, he'll get you and your guests onto the dance floor and turn up the volume a little. He'll also adjust the playlist to build a lively party atmosphere.

2. Live Jazz Band Paired with Our DJ

Our DJ can complement a live performance by one of our jazz bands. He'll play great music before the show, afterwards, and during the breaks. This way, the music and atmosphere merge beautifully, without the vibe being interrupted too much when the jazz band takes a pause. In this way, we can put together a multi-hour arrangement in which the DJ complements the jazz band beautifully.

3. Closing Act After a Live Performance

You could also book our vintage vinyl DJ to play after one of our live bands. This is a frequently booked arrangement, in which our DJ takes over once our live jazz band has played for a number of hours — during dinner, for example. He'll get your guests dancing and swinging at the end of the night, so that you get the best of both worlds: the beautiful presence of a live band, plus the vibe and dynamics of the vinyl DJ.

Genres, Style, and Repertoire

The soul and funk of the rich 1960s and 70s form the main source of inspiration for our jazz DJ, who has plenty — if not everything — to choose from. To add variety, jazz and Latin sounds from the 1950s are also played occasionally, and every now and then a tune from the eighties makes an appearance. Later in the evening, contemporary hip-hop, R&B, and house also become tempting options!

What Is Needed?

Our vinyl DJ has very few requirements — a single power outlet is usually all that's needed.

We bring modest, tasteful lighting and, if necessary, provide speakers, turntables, and other equipment, so you can concentrate on everything else.

The space our jazz DJ needs is very modest: about 2 by 2 metres is all it takes — though of course, we'll factor in extra space for a dance floor, if needed.

Where Do We Travel and Perform?

Our jazz DJs can perform anywhere in the Netherlands, Belgium, western Germany, and Luxembourg.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We need a performance space of at least approx. 2 by 2 meters. A normal 230V power socket is required.

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, we’re completely self contained. We bring our own PA system to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to play music from our curated playlist before, after and between our sets.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Usually we arrive 60 minutes in advance. In general we are booked 2-4 hours, but other time frames are always to be discussed. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

You can easily let it to the pro's to decide which song to play, so you can focus on other important things and your guests!

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Without exception our clients rate us with 5 stars, indicating an exact match between our performance and their expectations. Or maybe even exceeding expectations!
