About / Biography

Born in 1962 in Sofia, Bulgaria, Lilian Stoimenov began to study the trumpet in his

home city under Maestro Nacho Petrov, Lead Trumpet in the Sofia Symphonic

Orchestra.

Stoimenov graduated from the "Pancho Vladigherov" Musical Academy under the

guidance of Professor Petar Karparov, and went on to complete his study of music

in Italy, obtaining his diploma from the Conservatory of Verona in 2001.

Lilian Stoimenov won the competition for young talent in Pleven, Bulgaria in 1985

whilst playing as Lead Trumpet in Sofia's "Pioner" youth orchestra.

In 1986 Stoimenov began to work in the world of show business, playing with the

Big Band of the Varetà Theatre in Sofia and working with internationally

famous soloists such as, Paul Belfort, Gina Davide, Sandra Welss and

Dona Freeman.

In 1992 and 1993 he participated at the Eurovisia Festival in Malta

as guest solist.

He also played in the Orchestra of the Varietà Theatre in Stuttgard, Germany.

Since 1993 Lilian Stoimenov has worked in Italian show business with television

stars such as Pippo Baudo, Gerry Scotti, Ornella Muti, Mike Buongiorno,

Mara Venier, Moni Ovadia, Maurizio Costanzo, Alain Delon,

Moira Orfei, Walter Nones, Paolo Bonolis, David Larible, Toto Cotugno,

Filippa Lagerback, Giampiero Galeazzi, Katia Ricciarelli.......

Stoimenov presently lives in Verona and performs with numerous classical

soloists as well as soloists from the world of jazz and blues.

In 2001 Lilian participated at the Livorno Jazz Festival together with various

internationally famous artists including Billy Cobham, Eric Udel, Tony Coleman,

Herbie Goins, Sandra Hall, Big Jesse Yawn, Louisiana Mojo Queen, Robert

Bachner, Tony Esposito, Roberto Gatto, Francesco Bearzatti and Rosario Giuliani.

He played with Big Band Innsbruck and the University Big Band, with whom he

participated at the Vicenza Jazz Festival, together with artists from Italian jazz

history, such as: Gianni Basso, Dino Piana, Emilio Soana,

Gianni Coscia and Franco Cerri.

Stoimenov and pianist, Paolo Birro, recorded the CD, "Rapsody in Blue" with the

Big Band Rhythm - Symphony of Verona.

In 2002 Lilian worked with Maestro Andrea Centazzo with whom, at the Verona

Festival of Contemporary Music and for the first time ever, he executed a

piece composed for trumpet and magnetic tape

"Visita al Cimitero deglie Ebrei" ("Visit to the Jew's Cemetry").

In 2002 he founded the "TRIO SOFIA" together with Alessandra De Negri

(soprano) and Stefano Chiozzi (pianist). Trio Sofia has a vast repertoire

ranging from Baroque to present day.

With Alessandra De Negri he also works with Maestro Marco

Vincenzi (organist and harpsichord-player) With these two groups

Stoimenov has performed at prestigious concerts and festivals , both in Italy

and abroad. He keenly researches more original pieces for these two groups,

thus happily discovering both "jewels" from the Baroque period and lesser

known present day composers, for example Bernhard Krol, Friedrich

Wildgan, Stanley Friedman, Anthony Plog and Veselin Stoiyanov.

Lilian is dedicated to the distribution and appreciation of both contemporary

and classical Bulgarian music. Lilian Stoimenov has toured Germany, England,

France, Luxemburg, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Croatia,

Slovenia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, San Marino and Italy.

For many years, he has also supported the concert activity with the didactic

activity with results very important. Preparing instrumentalists at the national

level by winning competitions in the main theaters of Italy such as: La Scala in

Milan and Fenice in Venice.

Lilian Stoimenov plays "Vincent Bach" instruments and baroque trumpet from XVII

century.
