About / Biography

TOMMASO IACOVIELLO

was born on 16 July 1991 in Cecina (Livorno). He graduated in 2009 in trumpet at the 'Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali "Pietro Mascagni" in Livorno with Professor Marco Nesi.

In October 2016 he obtained the jazz trumpet degree at Siena Jazz Foundation. He collaborated with the Orchestra Città di Grosseto during the 2007, 2008 and 2009 seasons and he took part in the show 'Il Leone Maremmano' directed by Pamela Villoresi with the Ensemble G.M. Rossi 'Nuova Musica Sacra' in 2007 and 2008.

In 2007 he worked with the Orchestra Santa Cecilia Ensemble and took part in the performances of the musicals 'Pinocchio Superstar' and Alice di Carta' with the Todomodo Music-All Association of Livorno. He collaborated with the Orchestra of the Opera Festival of Florence in the 2008 and 2009 seasons. From 2010 to 2017 he was part of the group Magicaboola Brass Band, with whom he recorded the albums 'Attaccati alla Luna' and 'The Dark Side of the Street' and participated in three editions of the Lucca Summer Festival in Tuscany.

He also the tours of the Roman singer Paolo Fusi, the brass section of the German band of the German band Osama Sister and on the tours of the Italian singer Francesco Renga, where he joined the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra.

In 2012 he participated in the New Talent Jazz Orchestra in Rome Mario Corvini, with whom he played several concerts at the Casa Del Jazz with special guests such as such as Javier Girotto and Stefano Di Battista. He was then called by Paolo Damiani to join the Nuovi Talenti, a national jazz orchestra based at the Teatro Puccini in Florence.

In 2014 participated in the project "Suona Italiano - Suona Francese" with the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris and the Siena Jazz Foundation. In 2015 he will perform at the Opus Jazz Club in Budapest with the Siena Jazz Quintet.

In 2016 he participated with the Siena Jazz Foundation at the Keep an Eye International Jazz Awards' in Amsterdam. Since 2016 he is a member of the Jazz Wide Orchestra of Pisa and Nico Gori's Swing Tentet, with whom he has recorded the albums 'Swingin' Hips' (2018), 'The Tentet is Coming To Town' (2018) and 'Swing Classics' (2021). In 2018 he collaborated with Massimo Nunzi on 'Sing your Song' for Fondazione Musica per Roma and Save the Children, a musical education and social integration project for children living in the areas of Rome that are deprived of services and educational opportunities.

Also in 2018, he began participating in the prestigious Umbria Jazz Festival with the National Jazz Orchestra Nuovi Talenti, continuing in 2019 with Massimo Nunzi and in 2020 with Nico Gori's 'Swing Tentet'. To date he has also collaborated with with Stefano Battaglia in his permanent research laboratory at the Siena Jazz Foundation, and Ferdinando Romano, with whom he recorded the album 'Totem', in collaboration with Ralph Alessi.

For the last two years he has collaborated with Animali Celesti in projects aimed at the social integration of psychiatric users and the realisation of performances in contexts of performances in contexts of marginality and discomfort, and has participated as a musical performer in the workshop 'L'Attore Dissennato'.
