Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

Our best gig to date must be a birthday function gig for an old friend, in the Langstone Quays Resort Hotel on Hayling Island, last May. A nice venue, a lot of people enjoying themselves dancing all night, and a fantastic atmosphere. We play lots of great pubs and clubs but function gigs are great, and we have a very ample repertoire of songs in a variety of styles for this kind of gig.

What's your favourite type of event?

Birthdays, weddings and celebrations are great fun to do, although we love doing the pub and club gigs also.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We have known each other within the band going back to open mic and jam sessions in pubs going back some 12 to 14 years. The band itself has been going for 9 years now, playing around 30 gigs per year.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Within the band we have various influences, but our common ground is catchy pop and rock classics from the 50s through to the 80s, including the early rock 'n rollers, Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Roy Orbison, Shadows, Fleetwood Mac, Abba and many others, reflected in our song list.

What characterises your band?

We are a more mature band, mostly on our 60s into 70's, and so grew up with the 50's 60s, 70's and 80's music, hence our passion. We still get the youngsters up on their feet, however, as we play a lively set of songs.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We typically arrive 1 hour ahead of the start time, set up in 30 minutes the tune up and sound check for 15 minutes. We play gigs ranging from 45 minutes to an hour and a half per set, with a 15 minute break at half time, so typically playing 8.00pm to 11.00 pm, but we are flexible on this, often doing Sunday afternoon gigs as well.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We are happy to perform outside if the weather is stable and / or there is cover for our equipment in the event of a downpour, as rainwater and amplifiers do not go too well together.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We are very happy to tailor our setlist to our clients' preferences, and we have a repertoire in excess of 150 songs so there should be plenty to choose from. We have however on occasion learnt new songs especially for function gigs where the client has had particular favourites that they wanted included. We cover a wide range of styles from pop to rock, ballads to blues, reggae to instrumentals, so will take most things on.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

We are described as lively, a good dance band as we normally get a good number of people up on the floor dancing, and a good sing along band because of the classics that people know so well and join in with!
