About / Biography

Informed by the steadfast foundations laid out by the giants of the genre, Romance in Durango wear their RnB influences on their sleeves. With their post modern blend of Soul and Americana, they carve a distinct niche within their own style. Freshly returned from their most recent contract, the duo have most recently just finished performing onboard the Marella Voyager, cruising around Europe for the past 5 months.

Interweaving classics that the crowd know and adore with transformative takes on popular hits, they stand out in their passionate and raw approach leaving nothing on the table by the end of the night.

Performing a range of tracked, acoustic & multi-instrumental sets all bound by a cohesive narrative glueing the performance together, Romance in Durango set out to tell a story each night.

Sophie is one half of Romance in Durango. She brings a theatrical flare to her performance, jumping between instruments mid set and belting songs ranging from Bob Dylan to Aretha Franklin all while staying true to her own unique style. She radiates the infectious passion she holds for the giants of the soul genre, drawing inspiration from the likes of Amy Winehouse and Sammy Rae & the Friends.

Jack is the second half of Romance in Durango. He is a veritable encyclopaedia of modern popular music and witty anecdotes, with a taste as eclectic as it is visible. Musically forged by a love of the blues, Jack soon found his path toward funk and soul music being undeniably sculpted by the playing of Nile Rodgers, Vulfpeck and Steely Dan.

In combination the pair produce a potent intertwining of their own musical journeys that results in a completely unique and encapsulating end product. Their constant push toward excellence is evident in their shows. Ultimately the pair love the show, the stage and above all, they love the music.

Romance in Durango pride themselves on curating themed set lists to ensure that every venue and audience member is accounted for, therefore they organise their 500 song-strong full set list by genre / set name. The duo also provide an entertainment offering called ‘Durango’s Jukebox’, in which they take requests and recreate them in their own style. This has been a proven hit and the pair have received brilliant feedback on this set in particular
