For small venues, sometimes I can bring my own setup. For larger events, I prefer to work with the event’s sound team to ensure professional quality.
One of the best gigs I've ever done was Fête de la Musique. The atmosphere was incredible—filled with vibrant energy, live music from amazing bands, and a creative space that truly brought people together. The ambience was unmatched, making it a truly unforgettable experience
I love Neo-Soul and Hip-Hop events! The energy, the connection with the audience, and the soulful vibe make them truly special. There’s something powerful about blending smooth melodies with conscious lyrics in a space that celebrates creativity and culture
I started my journey by creating 'Flamed Grilled Poetry Sessions'—a platform to share my music and create a space for unsigned artists. We provided all the sound equipment, and the goal was to foster a creative community where artists could connect, perform, and be heard. That experience opened the door for many more opportunities, and from there, I began gigging regularly at various events. The next big highlight was getting the "Take 5" jingle on SABC One.
I've been most influenced by artists like Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Janelle Monáe. Erykah Badu, in particular, has had a profound impact on me. Her ability to blend Neo-Soul, hip-hop, and spirituality with unapologetic authenticity resonates deeply with my own style and creative expression. She’s a master at crafting soulful, thought-provoking music that feels timeless, and her music encourages individuality while also addressing social and personal themes. I think 'Bag Lady' by Erykah Badu is one of the greatest songs of all time because of its emotional depth, the way it blends vulnerability and strength, and its message about letting go of emotional baggage to live more freely. It speaks to me on many levels and embodies the kind of music I strive to create—honest, reflective, and healing.
Ms Isis, also known as Charlene Nolundi Nongauza, is a South African singer-songwriter who blends Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop, and Jazz with storytelling. Her music reflects themes of love, identity, culture, and the digital age.
I began as both a performer and event curator, hosting shows and collaborating with creatives in South Africa. My passion for music and community grew into creating original projects and live performances that fuse modern sound with African heritage.
Our typical setup time is around 1 to 2 hours before the event starts, depending on the complexity of the equipment and the venue. For performance, we usually perform for about 45 minutes to an hour per set, but this can be tailored to fit the event’s schedule. We always make sure to be ready and set up well in advance to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Yes, I'm happy to perform outside! I love the energy of outdoor events and the unique atmosphere they create.
Yes, the clients definitely have a say in what we play, depending on the kind of event. We understand that everyone has different and unique tastes, so we always work according to the client's brief to ensure the music fits the vibe and atmosphere they envision.
Previous clients most commonly describe my performances as engaging, soulful, and energetic. They appreciate the way I connect with the audience, creating an atmosphere that’s both uplifting and authentic. Many have mentioned how my music resonates with them on a personal level, and how the performances feel genuine, whether it's the energy of a live set or the emotional depth of a more intimate performance. I strive to bring positive energy, a unique vibe, and a sense of community to every event.
I perform a blend of Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop, and Jazz with influences from all over. My sets can be tailored to fit intimate events, live shows, or larger festivals.
My standard set is 45–60 minutes, but I can adjust the performance length depending on the event and client needs.
I can perform solo with backing tracks, with a live band, or alongside a DJ depending on your event requirements and budget.
I am available for live concerts, festivals, private functions, corporate events, community gatherings, and cultural showcases.
Rates vary depending on the event type, location, and duration. Please contact me directly with event details for a customised quote.
To secure your preferred date, I recommend booking at least 3–6 weeks in advance. However, I do consider last-minute bookings if my schedule allows.
Yes, I can create or adapt a performance for weddings, birthdays, or themed events if requested in advance.
