Yes... I provide all of my own sound equipment.

I'm not a DJ, but yes I can provide a playlist of any genre of music before and between my sets. I do use Spotify.

It’s hard for me to choose just one gig because I’ve had the opportunity to perform at so many different weddings, private events, church services, and special celebrations. Some of my favorite experiences have been the events where the music became a real part of the atmosphere and I could actually see the impact it was having on the people in the room.
I’ve also performed at a variety of beautiful venues throughout North Carolina. Rather than one particular venue being my favorite, I especially enjoy elegant wedding and event spaces where live saxophone can really complement the atmosphere and help turn an already special occasion into an experience people remember.

Weddings are definitely one of my favorite types of events to perform. I love being able to help create the atmosphere for such an important day, whether I’m performing during the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, or reception.
I also really enjoy private celebrations and special events where I have the opportunity to interact with the crowd and bring my personality into the performance. My music can range from R&B and smooth jazz to soul, gospel, pop, and other familiar songs, so I enjoy events where I can read the room, connect with the audience, and help create an experience rather than simply play music in the background.

I’ve been playing saxophone for 28 years, starting in middle school band and continuing through high school and college, where I also studied jazz. My father is a saxophonist and helped train me from a young age. When I was about 15, someone heard me play and encouraged me to consider doing music professionally. At the time I didn’t fully see it, but I loved the joy my playing brought to people. I began performing anywhere I was invited—churches, programs, celebrations, and special events. Eventually, I decided to take it seriously, created "A Saxual Experience", began performing professionally as V-Sax, and I haven’t looked back.

My influences come from many different styles of music, not just saxophonists. Grover Washington Jr., especially Mr. Magic, has been a major influence, along with music like Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Michael Jackson’s Thriller. I’m also heavily influenced by saxophonists Kirk Whalum and Gerald Albright, especially their tone, musicianship, and energy. One of my favorite artists is Marcus Anderson, who I actually went to school with and who has become one of today’s premier saxophonists. I try to pull something from all of those influences and blend it together into a sound and style that feels like my own.

I typically arrive 90 minutes before the start of the event. That gives me approximately 60 minutes for setup and soundcheck and another 30 minutes to get dressed and make final preparations. Performance times are based on the package and length of time the client hires me for, so each event can be tailored to the client’s needs.

I generally prefer to perform indoors, but I can perform outside under the right conditions. Outdoor performances work best during the cooler months or when the temperature is comfortable—not too hot or too cold. As long as the environment is suitable for both the performance and the equipment, I’m happy to accommodate an outdoor event.

I have an established repertoire that I’m always expanding, with a variety of styles but a strong focus on R&B and smooth jazz. Clients are welcome to review my song list and select songs they definitely want included in their event. I also accept special requests. One or two additional song requests are generally no problem, while a larger number of custom songs may affect the pricing because of the extra preparation involved. Clients can also let me know when they would like certain songs performed during the program, and I’ll build those selections naturally into my regular set.

Previous clients often describe my performances as professional, smooth, soulful, classy, and great sounding. Many expect the performance to be good, but are pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the sound, presentation, and musicianship once they experience it live. Clients also appreciate the complete package—the music, professionalism, and attention to detail that help bring the entire event together.
