"Thanks to Robbie's saxophone performance (and Piers, DJ) we had an amazing wedding in Ronda, Spain. Robbie also helped us during the day with great lighting and sound systems. We had a small wedding and beforehand we were afraid of an empty dance floor, but with Robbie there's absolutely no need. He definitely made it an incredible party. Our guests couldn’t stop dancing and the next day everyone was still talking about it. Robbie is a very talented man. He can improvise as a pro (he is one), blow your mind with incredible solos & mix ups with a DJ and is also very mindful of what the guests want&need - Fireball ;). "If Dr. John and Tom Waits leave you wanting more, lend your ear to one-of-a-kind Aussie artist Pugsley Buzzard, who assimilates their piano playing, singing and songwriting style into his own blues-jazz musical distillation. On this, his fourth solo CD since 2007’s Hammer These Tongs, Buzzard delivers an all-original set recorded in New Orleans, Melbourne and the Blue Mountains. The Aussie backing musicians are so hip to Buzzard’s swampy Crescent City-influenced grooves that it’s difficult to tell which tracks were recorded where. Complementing the Big Easy contingent of tenor and baritone saxophonist Jimmie Carpenter, trumpeter Antonio Gambrell, trombonist Craig Klein, double bassist Nathan Lambertson, guitarist John Fohl, drummer Charles Brewer and singer Irene Sage, is an equally talented band of top local players. The opening bars of the lead-in blues mambo instrumental ‘Cigarstore Indian’, on which Buzzard’s commanding piano echoes Professor Longhair, James Booker and Allen Toussaint all rolled into one, promises a bourbon-drenched musical trip to follow. Buzzard doesn’t disappoint, his gravelly Joe Cocker-by-way-of-Coco Robicheaux vocals and pulsating piano serving up a solid mix of New Orleans R&B from the Fats Domino styled ‘Dirty Kings’ and the inventive minor-key rave-up ‘Gumbo Boogie’, to the gris-gris-soaked, Night Tripper hoodoo funk of ‘Po’ Boy’, ‘Fire In The Hole’ and ‘Mischief’. The Dixieland flavoured ‘Sin City Lights’ gives way to ‘Salamanca Blues’ a solo instrumental displaying Buzzard’s mastery of stride piano. "I booked Mellowtone Jazz for my Mums 90th Birthday garden party. I cannot commend the band enough. I chose to have the trio and all 3 band members were so talented, friendly and accommodating. We we so pleased with the fabulous music they played. My Mum had the most wonderful time and she was so overwhelmed with it all. We had so much good feedback from our guests on how much they enjoyed the music. I would not hesitate to book Mellowtone Jazz again for our next party. (10 / 10) "

"Absolutely brilliant. Geoff was in contact early re: set up and play list. Fantastically helpful during set up when I had electricity problems and then a great party. Many guests commented on how good they were and at least two are interested in booking them. Can’t recommend highly enough!"

"We had the Blue Moon Jazz play for our wedding welcome party on August 17, 2023 in Sorrento Italy. I corresponded remotely in the USA to setup everything with Rapheal who is both very professional and very responsive to all of my emails. They were outstanding. Valentina, their singer is incredible. They played the song styles we had requested in both English and Itailian. They were very entertaining and so good that they got everyone dancing to their music. If you are looking for an excellent jazz band with an outstanding singer you will not be disappointed. Thanks again Rapheal and the Blue Moon Jazz for making our daughter’s wedding welcome party a huge success!! "
