". Yesterday I got fed both spiritually and materially at Soweto’s Just Badela eatery when I attended a heart-warming joint jazz presentation by Just Badela & ‘EXPRESSIONS by Siphiwe Mhlambi’ – the latter is an event series that capture the soul of jazz through Mhlambi’s evocative photography that blends rhythm and emotion into his every frame. I can right now without any whiff of doubt declare that the event lived up to its brand promise of delivering “an unforgettable afternoon with the legendary Herbie Tsoaeli, the master of double bass and a pioneer in South African jazz” to a full-house sit-down audience. (Indeed I) experience(d) the soul-stirring melodies and rich rhythms that have captured audiences around the world.” Nico Phooko was drawing inspiration from the music and the soul-caressing ambience by live painting a piece that will become a new addition to his “Notes & Strokes” series. The MC was Ngwako Malakalaka from Kofifi FM. We had the opportunity to witness Mhlambi autographing copies of our recently published book, “Rhythms in Black & White: A Virtual Journey Through the World of Jazz”, to happy revellers. Another illustrious author/publisher, Sam Mathe, manned a table selling his book too, “From Kippie to Kippies And Beyond”, on whose pages live our musicians. We do appreciate the platform that Just Badela provides to independent publishing and art . "

"Yesterday's gig at Just Badela in Orlando West, Soweto, was a truly memorable experience. We enjoyed a soul-soothing live performance by the legendary Herbie Tsoaeli and his exceptional all-star band, featuring Ayanda Sikade on drums, Yonela Mnana on piano, Sbusiso Mkhize on trumpet, and Muhammad Dawjee on saxophone. Their synergy created an atmosphere that resonated deeply with everyone present. The event also highlighted Nico Phooko’s creative spirit. Inspired by the music and the warm ambiance, he crafted a beautiful live painting for his “Notes & Strokes” series. This gathering was more than just a concert; it was a shared experience many attendees will cherish for a long time. I also want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all who came out and supported the event, particularly those who purchased a copy of my coffee table book, “RHYTHMS IN BLACK & WHITE - A VISUAL JOURNEY THROUGH THE WORLD OF JAZZ,” published by Brandhill Africa. "I was engaged as a Toastmaster for the opening of the NiftyLift new headquarters and gala dinner. They wanted two magicians for close-up, so Jay was one I engaged. He Wowed everyone with his magic. We received fantastic comments from guests on how much fun he was. The biggest recommendation came from the guest speaker Lord Digby Jones. he said how brilliant and amazing Jay was in his speech to 650 guests. I can highly recommend Jay as a close-up magician"
