Photo of The Brogues Ceilidh Band The Brogues Ceilidh Band "A massive 'Thankyou' for last night's ceilidh! Everyone I have spoken to really enjoyed the evening and I thought the atmosphere in the hall was very energetic!" Based in Glasgow, Scotland 25th March 2026 Sarah Hyde - event organiser, January 2026 - Fundraiser/Burns' Night ceilidh - Edmonstone Hall Photo of Foot Stompin' Ceilidh Band Foot Stompin' Ceilidh Band "The band were wonderful and so accommodating with our requests for the night which helped to make it just that little bit more special. So many of our guests commented on the fantastic music!" Based in Glasgow, Scotland Heather Kennedy Photo of Annasach Ceilidh Band Annasach Ceilidh Band "The Annasach Ceilidh Band made the evening of our wedding in The Netherlands unforgettable, motivating Dutch and French feet alike to dance the Scottish steps. Even my 62-year-old aunt was on her feet all evening and remarked at the end that from now on, she only wants Scottish weddings. The band also dealt very professionally with some unforeseen circumstances, rebooking their own flights when their original flights were cancelled, taking a lot of stress away from us. I will happily recommend them for any wedding or party in Scotland or abroad, and look forward to visiting one of their Ceilidhs in Edinburgh when we next find ourselves there!" Based in Edinburgh, Scotland Barbara - Wedding Photo of Bob Ferguson Songwriter Bob Ferguson Songwriter "Wonderful entertainer! Bob ‘reads’ the audience and keeps the mood, tempo and volume on point. He provided a wonderful afternoon of music and humour for mum’s 100th!" Based in Lanark, Scotland 16th May 2026 Julia Edgar - Birthday party Photo of Shindig Wedding Band Shindig Wedding Band "Simply the best. As I said many times, we were not looking for a wedding band in Ireland, we wanted an Irish Band that does weddings. Well we found them. In March of 2024 my wife and I were in Ireland to preview my daughter's wedding venue in Co. Monaghan at Castle Leslie. We did not have a band yet and happened into Temple Bar and fortunately for us Sparky was playing with an awesome fiddle player and we were hooked. Quick conversation and some planning with Gav and they were booked. They were incredibly accommodating and helped coordinate all of the music for the day including ceremony, Cocktail 2 Hours(!), Shindig for the evening and even a DJ inserted in the middle. They also worked with me and my band to do some of the first dances etc. for my daughter and our families. As a musician myself, I know good when I see it and these guys were awesome! I can't wait to play with them again!" Based in Dublin, Leinster, Ireland 7th February 2026 Tim Pitney - Wedding Photo of Ayden Graham – Folk/Rock/Jazz Covers Ayden Graham – Folk/Rock/Jazz Covers "An absolute breath of new life in the music scene. Fantastic musician with a wide range of styles with amazing vocals. Very entertaining. Watch out for this guy,he is well worth a listen. Go see him perform." Based in Dublin, Leinster, Ireland 7th November 2025 mike O'Loughlin

Frequently asked questions

The average price for folk bands on Gig Heaven is £500, with rates from £90 to £1,250+. Cost depends on the number of musicians, performance length and the instruments involved. Folk bands feature a range of traditional instruments such as fiddle, mandolin, accordion and bodhrán, and larger groups with more players cost more.

The folk bands for hire perform a range of folk styles including traditional, contemporary folk, Celtic, English folk, world folk and folk-rock. Many bands feature acoustic instruments such as fiddle, guitar, mandolin, accordion, bodhran and bouzouki.

Hiring folk bands suits a wide range of events including weddings, ceilidhs, barn dances, festivals, pub events, corporate functions and cultural celebrations. Folk music creates a warm, convivial atmosphere and many bands encourage audience participation through sing-alongs and dancing.

Some folk bands also offer ceilidh or barn dance calling as part of their performance. The caller guides guests through traditional group dances, making it an inclusive and entertaining activity for all ages. To get the best results, check each band's profile to see if they offer this option.

Many folk bands can perform acoustically for smaller, intimate venues. For medium to large events, most bands bring their own PA system. It is advisable to discuss the venue size and guest numbers with the band to determine the best sound setup.
