Guitar players mostly quote per set rather than per hour, with rates in London starting from about £100 for a single instrumental set, typical bookings around £250 and singer-guitarists bringing their own PA reaching £750+. Longer performances, weekend and peak-season dates, and sets that include vocals all push quotes up. When comparing quotes, check what each includes: amplification, travel and time to learn requested songs are sometimes itemised separately. Booking ceremony and reception music with the same performer often costs less than hiring two separate acts. Contact the supplier you like for an accurate quote.

Photo of Luminous Duo Luminous Duo "We booked the Duo for our wedding in Barcelona. Before the ceremony the Duo were incredibly helpful and flexible in helping finalise the set list for our welcome drinks and cocktail hour and the equipment they would require. We were also fortunate that the Duo learnt our first dance song, sending over a demo well before the ceremony so that we could check that we were comfortable dancing to it. On the day, both Nadine and Lumai were brilliant. They were exactly the style of performer we were looking for, with their bossa-nova sound setting the perfect atmosphere for our guests on their arrival and during our cocktail hour. We’ll always remember that we were fortunate enough to have a live band perform our first dance - thank you so much for making this happen!" Not only did he keep the crowd entertained and engaged throughout the event, but he also had guests dancing, singing along, and fully enjoying the atmosphere created by his live performance." He sang our favourite "Bridge Over Troubled Water" for our first dance and then performed 2 sets of really entertaining upbeat Elvis material that everyone loved. He really helped start off the evening with a bang and everyone enjoyed so much. We can't thank you enough!! Hope to see you again soon Lisa (10 / 10) Lisa King" Based in London, England 22nd March 2026 Lisa King - Wedding Reception Photo of Zukira Duo Zukira Duo "Hi Abbie and Gavie, I want to thank you both so much for being absolutely amazing at Ellie and Charlie’s wedding on Sunday. You played so beautifully and created such a wonderful atmosphere. It could not have been more perfect. When I heard you on Radio London, all that time ago, I knew that I wanted you to play at Ellie’s wedding. Well, how right I was. I can’t imagine anything better. I’m only sorry that I didn’t get a chance to have a chat with you on the day. It’s remarkably hectic being mother-of-the-bride! I hope that you were well looked after and managed to get something to eat. The rest of the wedding was equally wonderful and we are all still floating on air. Many thanks again for making the wedding so special." Based in London, England 27th December 2025 Gill F - Wedding Photo of Alan Oliver Wedding Guitarist Alan Oliver Wedding Guitarist "Alan played throughout the guests arrival, provided music throughout our ceremony and played throughout the drinks reception.  His music was amazing and so many guests commented on how his performance was just so in keeping with the venue and helped to set the tone for an amazing day! I would 100% recommend him to anyone looking for someone to have music at any occasion. His variety of songs is extremely broad and took the time to learn a specific style song for my wife’s entry! He sent us an audio file of what it was going to sound like so that was brilliant.  I was so impressed and thankful that Alan was the person we had chosen to provide the music for our special day!  Thank you so much for your kind diligence, and your amazing performance! Many thanks  Henry and Laura" Based in London, England 25th November 2025 Henry Eades - Wedding

Frequently asked questions

The average price for guitarists on Gig Heaven is £250, with rates ranging from £100 to £750+. Cost depends on performance duration, the guitarist's experience and whether the booking is for background music or a full live set. Guitarists on the platform cover a wide range of styles including classical, jazz, blues, rock, flamenco and pop.

The guitarists for hire cover a huge range of styles including classical, jazz, blues, flamenco, rock, pop, folk, fingerstyle and acoustic covers. Many guitarists are versatile performers who can switch between styles during an event to suit different moments.

Popular occasions for hiring guitarists include wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions, corporate dinners, private parties, restaurant entertainment and ambient background music. A solo guitarist provides versatile, elegant live music that suits both intimate and larger settings.

Most guitarists are happy to learn specific songs for key moments such as a ceremony entrance or first dance. Many have extensive repertoires covering popular songs, classical pieces and jazz standards. It is advisable to discuss song requests with the guitarist well in advance.

Many guitarists on Gig Heaven play both electric and acoustic guitar and can choose the instrument that best suits the event. Acoustic guitar provides a warm, intimate sound for ceremonies and dining, while electric guitar is better for rock, blues and higher-energy performances.

For small, quiet settings, many guitarists can perform acoustically. For larger venues, outdoor events or noisier environments, a small amplifier or PA system is usually needed. Most guitarists bring their own amplification. For the best experience, discuss the venue size with the performer.

One player can usually cover the whole day, moving from processional and signing music during the ceremony to background playing over drinks and dinner. Timings are agreed in advance, since the ceremony music has fixed cues while the reception is more flexible. Where the ceremony and the reception are in different spaces, allow time to move and set up between them.

Most bookings run to two or three hours of playing time, split into sets with breaks, though the total time on site is longer once setup and soundcheck are added. Shorter ceremony-only bookings of around 40 minutes are common and are priced differently. Ask for playing time rather than hours on site, as the two are not the same.

Outdoor playing is common for ceremonies and garden receptions, and most players are happy to do it given shade and a level surface. Direct sun and damp both affect a wooden instrument, so a covered area is worth arranging even in settled weather. Wind carries sound away quickly, so amplification is usually needed outdoors even for a small number of guests.
