A guide to booking

Hire Jazz Bands in The Hamptons, New York, United States

Live jazz groups bring a polished, adaptable sound to weddings and events near you. These professional musicians handle everything from soft background music during dinner to high-energy dance sets, adjusting their repertoire and volume to suit your venue and occasion. Most jazz acts offer flexible lineup sizes, so a trio that plays your cocktail hour can expand to a quintet or larger group for the evening.

Choosing a Jazz Band for Your Event

The most popular format is a three or four-piece jazz group for wedding receptions and corporate functions, with a classic combination of piano or guitar, bass, drums and sometimes saxophone or vocals. Smaller duos work well for ceremonies and intimate settings, while larger ensembles with brass and dedicated vocalists suit bigger venues and dance-focused events. Many jazz musicians locally also offer themed sets, including 1920s Gatsby-era jazz, bossa nova, and modern pop songs rearranged in a swing style.

Jazz Band Pricing in The Hamptons

Jazz bands in The Hamptons currently range from $180 for smaller ensembles to $2,250+ for larger groups or extended performances, with an average booking cost of $650. Price typically reflects the number of musicians, set length, travel requirements, and any custom arrangements. Trios and quartets offer good value for most events, while full big band setups command a higher fee but deliver a richer, more dynamic sound.

Photo of Le'Mixx Band Le'Mixx Band "Reviewed on: 12/28/2024 Le'Mixx is an eclectic bunch of talented musicians that exceeded our expectations. We didn't want a band that would perform the go-to tracks of the wedding circuit. We wanted a seasoned band to perform live music in genres ranging from Funk to R&B. Their band showcased tunes with woodwind & brass instruments and live vocals from their lead singer and all performers. The band informed us of all their necessities in advance and arrived early. The band also provided all the necessary equipment, like microphones and speakers. Our young and wise guests found themselves all on the dance floor from the energy Le'Mixx created." They were very professional in their approach and made themselves available to mingle with everyone during their breaks. The quality of the music was top notch and they even took a few request on songs that were not in their regular song list and did a GREAT job with it. I would highly recommend this group for your entertainment pleasure." Based in Providence, Rhode Island Arthur Bryant - Professional Venue Bookings Photo of A Touch Of Jazz Featuring Vin Cassotta A Touch Of Jazz Featuring Vin Cassotta "I am delighted to recommend Vincent Cassotta of Enfield CT in pursuit of his grant application for the Louis Armstrong Tribute with a Jazz Quartet performing at the Eli Whitney Elementary School. My previous role as the PK-12 Music Coordinator for the Enfield Public School District has brought me in direct contact with the professional, innovative, creative, and artistic musician and retired teacher Mr. Vincent Cassotta. I have witnessed first-hand the impact and quality of his quality music instruction provided for his thirty-nine years of teaching tenure in our community. To have the opportunity to bring the genre of American Jazz Music as a tribute to the legend of Louis Armstrong with quality professional musicians under Mr. Cassotta’s organization is a blessing to the young minds and ears of our elementary students, especially at a time when music education in Enfield offers less opportunities. This past Spring I had the opportunity to guest speak at Mr. Cassotta’s retirement party celebrating his many years of service in music education. In that speech I spoke about multiple areas beyond the collegial and professional relationship Mr. Cassotta, and I achieved since 1999. These in my opinion provide strong evidence for the Enfield Cultural Council to support this mission of this application fiscally. One of the points shared was that Mr. Cassotta balanced his career of music education and professional trumpet performing with incredible success throughout his career. Aside from the technical, logistical and time management responsibilities from such an endeavor, he achieved this success with never letting go of the care demonstrated to his students, family members, school building staff, and his music professional colleagues. The fact that he desires to continue to expand the music opportunities to students in Enfield now in his retirement resting years is evidence of his dedication to this art form and willingness to always educate. Furthermore Mr. Cassotta’s wealth of experience professionally as a performing musician and student of the trumpet is stellar. In his education Mr. Cassotta studied trumpet with Rolf Smedvig of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Empire Brass Quintet, Jimm Maxwell a NYC Studio Musician, Roger Murtha of the Hartford Symphony and Hartt School of Music, and Dan Patrylak of the Eastman Brass Quintet and UCONN. To continue, Mr. Cassotta was a freelance performer with Frank Sinatra, Manhattan Transfer, Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby Vinton, Bob Hope, The Four Tops, Phil Woods, The Temptations, Sammy Davis Jr., Andy Williams, Franki Valli and the Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Including numerous local and state pit orchestra’s and local well know jazz bands. He has also published works as a composer and arranger with KJOS music as well as multiple professional recordings. I strongly urge you to consider Mr. Cassotta’s application for this grant. Your support will help impact music education in Enfield and continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of its students. Thank you for considering this recommendation. Sincerely, Mark F. Frequently asked questions

The average cost of hiring jazz bands is $650, with prices from $180 to $2,250+. The main cost factors are the number of musicians in the band, performance duration and the style of jazz. Jazz groups range from duos and trios to large swing orchestras, and line-up size has the biggest impact on price.

Hiring jazz bands is a versatile choice for many types of events. They are especially popular for wedding receptions, cocktail hours, corporate functions, private parties and gala dinners. Jazz works well as background music during dining or drinks, and can also be the featured entertainment where a more sophisticated atmosphere is desired.

Many jazz bands are skilled at adjusting their volume and energy to suit different parts of an event. They can provide subtle background music during dinner and then shift to a more upbeat, danceable set for the evening party. It is a good idea to discuss the event flow with the band so they can plan their sets accordingly.

On Gig Heaven, jazz bands are available in a variety of sizes, from duos and trios up to full big band ensembles of 15 or more musicians. A smaller group such as a trio or quartet is ideal for intimate settings and lower budgets, while a larger ensemble can fill bigger venues with a richer, more dynamic sound.

Most jazz bands are self-contained and bring their own amplification for smaller to mid-sized venues. Acoustic jazz groups may not need any amplification at all for intimate settings. For larger venues, additional PA equipment may be required. It is worth discussing sound requirements with the band before booking.

The jazz bands in The Hamptons, New York, United States cover a wide range of styles including swing, bossa nova, gypsy jazz, smooth jazz, bebop and New Orleans-style jazz.
