Photo of Iron Broo Ceilidh Band Iron Broo Ceilidh Band "A Perfect Wedding Band! When I proposed to my now wife back in 2017, I was adamant that we would have a great ceilidh band for the wedding, showing my new Hungarian family a true taste of Scottish culture whilst having a great time. When I saw the advert for Iron Broo and how they were ranked one of the top ceilidh bands in the area I was sceptical at first having never heard them play. Then I was invited to a wedding that they played 4 months prior to my own: after hearing their 3 piece I knew my wedding would be in safe hands! All through the buildup to the day Charlie was a great help, using his knowledge and experience to advise how to run the evening - he even transcribed a bagpipe tune for my great grandfather to play on the night! On the day, the band were outstanding! Despite a small wedding the band with their charm and wit managed to get people up to dance and put on a tremendous show! The personal touches were carefully noted as the Orcadian Strip the Willow’s music was even tailored to incorporate Hungarian folk music that put a big smile on the new in-laws faces! I could not recommend Iron Broo more to play at any function, they really are what they advertise and will now need to create an event just to have them back! Forever grateful. Mr and Mrs Borthwick." Really get the house rocking with well chosen sing along songs that leave you with a wide smile and high five feeling." Based in Dundee, Scotland (57 miles from Aberdeen) Bob Jones Photo of Annasach Ceilidh Band Annasach Ceilidh Band "The Annasach Ceilidh Band made the evening of our wedding in The Netherlands unforgettable, motivating Dutch and French feet alike to dance the Scottish steps. Even my 62-year-old aunt was on her feet all evening and remarked at the end that from now on, she only wants Scottish weddings. The band also dealt very professionally with some unforeseen circumstances, rebooking their own flights when their original flights were cancelled, taking a lot of stress away from us. I will happily recommend them for any wedding or party in Scotland or abroad, and look forward to visiting one of their Ceilidhs in Edinburgh when we next find ourselves there!" Based in Edinburgh, Scotland (92 miles from Aberdeen) Barbara - Wedding Photo of La Dolce Vita Swing Collective La Dolce Vita Swing Collective "Not knowing what to expect I was ready for anything on a warm September night in Edinburgh. This was a Sunday night too and the setting was complete in the nightclub atmosphere that is the Dirty Martini lounge. This band can swing, bass and drums groove sweetly while sax and piano trade solos making this a full sound like there are more on stage. Tony Delicata on vocals blends his Italian roots with Volare, On An Evening In Roma and O Solo Mio as we were escorted to warm Italy with cool sounds and cocktails to suit. The second half opened with I Wish I Knew, an instrumental from the days when Cinema was a TV series before Tony returned with more signature arrangements. By now the audience were itching to dance and with peaks like Mack The Knife and (Theme From) New York New York they were at one with the band. The closing title song was a creative masterstroke and a deserved ovation followed." I was so nervous about keeping my surprise from my girlfriend but they helped create what I had imagined - they were so professional and easy to work with and sounded great!" I loved them and I’m obsessed with them all. They were everything I hoped for and more. Would definitely recommend to anyone who’s looking for that wow factor for their wedding day. - Mr & Mrs Fletcher, The Eden Project, Cornwall" Based in Stirling, Scotland (99 miles from Aberdeen) Mr & Mrs Fletcher - Wedding

Frequently asked questions

The average cost of hiring wedding bands is £800, with prices from £170 to £2,550+. The main pricing factor is the number of musicians in the band, as wedding bands range from compact three-piece acts to large ensembles with brass sections and backing vocalists. Performance duration, whether the band provides music for multiple parts of the day and any extras such as DJ sets or lighting also affect cost.

Most wedding bands perform for two to three hours of evening entertainment, usually split into sets with short breaks. The first set often begins after the meal and speeches, starting with the first dance. Longer or shorter performance times can usually be arranged, and many bands also offer background music or DJ services for earlier parts of the day.

Many wedding bands are happy to learn a specific song, such as a first dance or a song with personal significance. For the best experience, discuss this with the band as early as possible, as some songs may require additional rehearsal time. Most bands will learn at least one special request at no extra charge.

The wedding bands listed on Gig Heaven range from small three or four-piece groups to larger line-ups with brass sections, backing singers and additional musicians. Smaller bands suit intimate venues and lower budgets, while larger ensembles create a bigger sound for grand receptions. Many bands offer flexible line-up options to suit different event sizes and budgets.

Most wedding bands are self-contained and provide their own PA system, microphones and any necessary amplification for standard event venues. For larger spaces or events with over 300 guests, additional sound reinforcement may be needed. It is a good idea to confirm equipment details with the band before booking, especially if the venue has specific noise restrictions or technical requirements.

Most wedding bands cover a wide range of genres, from pop and rock to soul, Motown, indie and current chart hits. Some also offer jazz, swing or acoustic sets for cocktail hours and dinner. Browsing band profiles on Gig Heaven is the best way to check repertoire, and many bands will tailor their setlist to suit the style of your event.
