Our favourite so far has to be our sold-out show at Dun Laoghaire’s Summerfest. It was one of those nights where everything clicked — great sound, great crowd, and an atmosphere that just kept building from tune to tune. The audience was completely on board, and the feedback after was incredible.

We love playing weddings and corporate events — anywhere people are up for a good time. Weddings have that extra magic because the energy in the room is pure joy, and we get to help shape the night. Corporate gigs are great too; the mix of ages and backgrounds always makes it fun to surprise people with how funky jazz can get.

We all met through Dublin’s jazz scene, playing in different projects before forming 8-Bit Funk. What started as a creative idea — turning video-game soundtracks into live jazz-funk arrangements — quickly grew into something audiences connected with. Since then, we’ve played festivals, weddings, and venues across Ireland, building a reputation for musicianship, groove, and originality.

As a band, we draw a lot from Herbie Hancock, Vulfpeck, Snarky Puppy, and Stevie Wonder — artists who make sophisticated music feel fun and alive. We love anything that grooves, but if we had to pick one timeless track, it would be “Chameleon” by Herbie Hancock — the perfect blend of funk, freedom, and feel.

We usually arrive about two hours before showtime to set up and soundcheck. Our standard format is 90minutes or extended 120-minute show, depending on the event. We can adjust timings to fit your schedule, for example, spreading shorter sets across the evening or aligning our breaks with dinner service.

Absolutely, we love outdoor shows. All we ask for is a flat surface, some shade or cover, and a reliable power source near the stage area. We’ve played open-air festivals and garden weddings before, and they always make for a great atmosphere.

We have a strong core repertoire, but we’re happy to tailor the set to suit the event. Clients can choose favourites from our song list, and we can learn one or two special requests with enough notice. We also adapt our energy and song flow to match the mood, whether that’s background grooves or dancefloor funk.

Clients often describe our shows as tight, energetic, and refreshing, a perfect mix of musicianship and fun. We’ve been told our sound creates a great vibe without overpowering the room, and that our blend of jazz, funk, and nostalgia makes the night stand out.
