When Elisabeth Lohninger takes the stage, it becomes instantly clear: this is not your run-of-the-mill jazz. Hailed by the press as the “Kate Bush of Jazz,” she walks stylistic tightropes and breaks musical taboos with fearless creativity. Her velvety, dark alto voice stands in stark contrast to the iconic Freddie Mercury — and that’s precisely where the magic lies. Where he blazes with theatrical fire, she captivates with soulfulness and subtlety. Suddenly, even Queen’s most familiar lyrics feel fresh and new.
Together with her brilliant musical partner, pianist Walter Fischbacher, Lohninger has crafted a program that turns Queen classics on their head — from the anthemic We Are the Champions to hidden gems like Cool Cat. Each song is reimagined, stripped to its essence, and tailored to fit her voice and vision. The result is a musical arc that runs all the way from intimacy to euphoria.
After decades of living in New York City, Lohninger has settled into a life between two worlds: the creative chaos of the Big Apple and the quiet beauty of her Austrian roots. But her true home lies somewhere in between — where contrasts collide and new sonic landscapes emerge. With Queen Goes Jazz, she’s built a stylistic bridge that defies categorization — and that’s exactly what makes it so irresistible.

We travel with full PA and backline. We need a stage with enough room for vocs with keys, keyboard, full drum set, bass and full backline (which we also supply). Power requirements for full PA at 220 Volt. Parking space for a Mercedes Sprinter (does not fit into regular garages)
Need to know where to load in at the venue and where to park the car.
Yes, we are completely self contained soundwise. We bring our own PA system but do need some lights.
Yes, we are happy to play some music before, after and between our sets. We will choose the music ourselves.
We performed at set at a Rock Festival in Germany. The organizer had provided sound and an excellent sound engineer, the crowd was great, and although it rained, we had a lot of fun.
We prefer to play concerts in music venues, jazz clubs and festival stages.
I started performing as a jazz vocalist 30 years ago and have worked with many different bands and line-ups, from duo to Big Band. This new project came together in partnership with my husband, musical partner and keyboardist. Since starting to perform I have had a regular touring schedule in Europe, North America, the middle east and Japan.
jazz greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Bobby McFerrin; Sting, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury of course. I think one of the greatest songs of all time is his ballad Love of my Life - simple, to the point, moving.
We arrive about 2 to 3 hours before the performance to set up. We perform 2 x 50 min sets.
We are happy to perform outside as long as the stage is covered and flat, and there is enough power to run our equipment.
It is a set repertoire list.
Previous customers would describe us as having great stage presence and obvious and infectious fun while performing.
