It’s been more than 10 years since the Harlem Rhythm Band (HRB) was formed in the misty, icy valleys of southeastern France. These crazy (but perfectly sane) musicians, devoted to swing jazz and the Cotton Club, have been performing for all these years at jazz clubs and swing dance festivals that are always on the search for bands that truly play in the style and spirit of the legendary American bands of the 1930s and ’40s.

Yes, we’ll be happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets.
We played three nights in a row at the Caveau de la Huchette in August 2025, the most famous jazz club in France.
Following our success there, the Caveau de la Huchette asked us to play again—four nights in a row—in July 2026.
We're happy to play at all kinds of events, with a preference for clubs, private evenings and any concerts where we can be close to our audience.
After years of training in classical music, I got into rock music at age 18, influenced by my school friends, before discovering the world of jazz at age 25—a world I’ve never left since.
As a trumpet player, my favorite musician is Louis Armstrong. Ivan Baldet’s (HRB tenor saxophonist) favorite saxophonist is Scott Hamilton. Ten years ago, Ivan launched a YouTube channel that analyzes Scott Hamilton’s solos; that channel now has 3.5 million views, and Ivan and Scott have become close friends.
The greatest song of all time?!? It's impossible to answer that question, but since you asked, I'd say “Summertime” by George Gershwin, featuring Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald.
I am French, but I lived and played in Sweden for six years (1986–1992) and lived and played in Hong Kong for five years (2001–2006). I speak French, Swedish, and English.
We always arrive at the venue two or three hours before the concert, giving us time to rest after our trip, set up comfortably and play 2or 3 songs to get used to the acoustics of the place and adjust the sound system.
Our concerts last 1 hour and 30 minutes—one or two sets—but they actually always run a little longer, especially when we’re feeling good, the audience is having a great time and, of course, when there are encores.
Yes, we're happy to play outside. We just need to be protected from the sun.… and of course, from the rain.
We're always happy when someone asks us for a theme song. If we don't know it, we let them choose a song from our playlist. Of course, we're familiar with the classic theme songs that are played at birthdays, weddings, and so on…
When we perform, it’s obviously to please the people who invited us and to give them a good time, but every time, we have a good time ourselves too—we’re happy, we’re having fun, and our happiness is contagious.

For many years, the Harlem Rhythm Band (HRB) has performed at countless clubs and festivals in France, as well as in Switzerland, the Netherlands, and elsewhere—as shown on our website. In 2020, I created the Harlem Swing Orchestra (HSO) with the same musicians, but with a pianist replacing the guitarist and a second saxophonist. The manager of the Caveau de la Huchette in Paris immediately booked us for three nights in 2025 after hearing us play, and following those three nights, booked us again in July 2026 for four consecutive nights. The Caveau de la Huchette became the most famous jazz club in France. There was a 200-meter line every night just to get in, and bands from all over the world came to play there. The fact that we’re now invited to play there every year is the best endorsement for the HRB (… and the HSO).
