What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

Too many to choose from but Cannes Film Festival, for several years running, stands out - one gig of which was for the movie Candelabra, a small private pre launch dinner for mega Hollywood stars Michael Douglas, Matt Damon & guests - very thrilling.
Or - the Canadian Embassy - a Private Dinner for Landmine Awareness Campaign - Heather Mills, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir George Martin & a few more. Afterwards Sir Paul shook my hand and said “Well played!” …Oh the pride!


What's your favourite type of event?

All of them. Variety is the Spice of Life


What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Julian’s musical life is rich and varied - starting with private classical Piano lessons and learning Electric Bass Guitar he played pop & rock music gigs professionally starting at 17 years old. As his musical tastes expanded he studied jazz at Leeds College of Music and the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles and added the Acoustic Double Bass to his musical arsenal. Moving to London in 2000 he worked extensively in the jazz scene later adding Alto & Tenor Saxophone.

Saxophonist Sonny Rollins. Double bass player Paul Chambers. Electric bassist Anthony Jackson.

What are your typical setup and performance times?

It only takes a few minutes to set up but I like to arrive an hour beforehand for everybody's peace of mind.


Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes - just need a power supply.

Certainly - I love every song in my repertoire list and hope you can find your favourites too.
