About / Biography

There is something rare about Laïka Thomas. The Parisian jazz vocalist, signed to Verve Records / Universal Music, carries an intimacy on stage that feels personal, whether she is performing for twenty guests or a thousand.

Singing in English, French, and Spanish, she brings elegance and authenticity to every room she enters. Guided by a sParisian flair and a quietly refined aesthetic, she understands the expectations of those who seek her out, their desire for simplicity, authenticity, and excellence.

Her repetoire is rooted in classic jazz. Upon request, Laïka also offers an exclusively French repertoire, an evening in Paris.

She has performed for Van Cleef & Arpels at a private evening at the Hôtel d’Evreux, for Vacheron Constantin in Geneva, and for Moët & Chandon at the Festival du Cinéma Américain in Deauville. Her stages have included the Ritz Paris, the Byblos Palace in Saint-Tropez, the Palais Garnier, the Musée Jacquemart-André, the Missouri History Museum, and the Monte-Carlo Sporting Club, where she performed by invitation of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. She has interpreted the compositions of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, performed at an Issey Miyake collection presentation, and was invited to celebrate the birthday of an African Head of State.

Available for private gatherings, weddings, cultural galas, and corporate events worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

Performing at the Place de la Concorde in Paris for the Victory Concert. before an audience of 300.000 people.

What's your favourite type of event?

Intimate gatherings where music and atmosphere become one.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Music found me at 12, through my aunt, a close friend of drummer Paco Séry, who took me to the clubs and introduced me to Miles, Coltrane, and Billie Holiday. Billie became my compass.

At 16, after losing my mother, I decided to sing seriously. I joined the Claude Bolling Big Band, spent over six years on stage, then formed my own quintet and recorded my first album. In 2009, I became the first French artist signed to Verve Records / Universal Music.

I have since released three albums featuring Roy Hargrove, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Robert Glasper, and performed at major festivals across Europe, Asia, and the Americas — from the Montreal Jazz Festival to Tokyo, Hong Kong, and London. I am a laureate of the FACE Foundation and the Prix SACEM.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Carmen McRae
Billie Holiday
Shirley Horn
Abbey Lincoln
Nina Simone

Yes, provided there is covered area to protect the musicians and instruments, a flat surface and a power supply close to the stage.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Clients are welcome to share their preferences and we will do our best to accommodate specific requests. We are happy to discuss the programme in advance to ensure the music is perfectly suited to the occasion.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous clients most commonly describe my performances as deeply moving and unforgettable. As one client wrote: “You set the tone in the room — in the entire house — filled it with joy, love, music. Your voice is like a beautiful songbird, your smile and soul carry it far and wide. The gathering would not have been the same without you.”

Do you offer a bespoke programme tailored to the event ?

Yes. We work closely with each client to curate a programme that suits the mood, tone and spirit of their event.
