About / Biography

Skabucks. Two classical musicians wandered into an Alchoholics Anonymous meeting to get out of the rain, tripping over an unconcious, ginger drummer in the doorway and waking up an ageing but rampant bass player....and a Midlands Ska legends was born! Skabucks are musically influenced by Madness, The Beat, The Specials, Bad Manners, Prince Buster.... Ska! Ska! Ska!

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

"We need a performance space of at least 8 meters x 5 meters. We require 2 x 13 amp power sockets and 3 parking spaces."

What information do you require about a venue?

"We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

"Yes, we’re completely self contained. We bring our own PA system to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig."

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

"Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music."

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

“We performed at The O2 Arena for a headline concert. It was amazing to energize the crowd and be part of such an unforgettable night!”

What's your favourite type of event?

"We love playing at all sorts of events but weddings are our favourite! The guests are always happy and it’s easy to get them dancing."

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

"We started gigging whilst at School and our performances developed from there. Since we started we’ve performed at hundreds of weddings, parties and events across the UK and beyond."

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

“We’ve been most influenced by legendary acts like The Specials, Madness, and The Beat, whose energy and musicianship shaped our sound. Our favourite artist has to be Bob Marley, whose music transcends generations. As for the greatest song of all time, it’s tough to pick just one, but ‘One Step Beyond’ by Madness always gets us moving and never fails to lift the crowd!”

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

"We normally arrive 2 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best."

Are you happy to perform outside?

"We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area."

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

"We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area."

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

"Previous customers would describe us as a high energy group that loves to get the audience on their feet dancing."
