"Paris, Galerie 19 Paul Fort, June 29, 2023, around 8:45 p.m. The trio is on tour. He had already come to our country last year, for a short tour of 3 dates in the South-West, at the initiative of Philippe Levreaud. Here he is back. The day before he was in Seine-et-Marne at the Moulin de Benne, and the days after that it will be Angoulême, Bordeaux and Puy-du-Lac. But for now they are here, for us, in this Gallery which regularly hosts the rarest music. A rustle of cymbals, the stridencies of the soprano sax, and a keyboard motif which installs a pulse: an incipit which smells good of the magic of improvised music. Then the improvisation is organized around a vehement pulse: the percussionist is at the center of the game. Not like a ‘groove machine’ which would convey preconceived ideas: rather like the living heart of an organism in permanent mutation. The pianist is in a double dialogue: rhythmic with the percussions, melodic-harmonic with the saxophonist. It is lyrical, tense, and a host of micro-events take place that bring the speech to incandescence. End of the first sequence. After brief words of welcome and introduction (Jamie Harris contributes his French) we set off headlong, towards the alto sax, in a crazy, almost Caribbean spin. Then back to the soprano, for a sort of ballad that will increase in intensity, on motifs that carry a bit of Africa within them. And this continent is still present in the following theme, which is a tribute to the musicians from Ghana with whom Trevor Watts collaborated at the end of the previous century. Throughout the concert, the music breathes under other horizons: Hispanic, Latin American, Middle Eastern. With sometimes melancholy accents that often resolve themselves into intense pulsations, towards a lyricism that is as torn as it is heartbreaking. In short, a bouquet of strong emotions and subtle sensations: music, in short. Audience conquered, columnist in heaven, ready to face the galley of the year to return from Porte d’Orléans to Bondy: due to ‘security measures’, no metro or bus; no RER ‘E’ but walking to Denfert Rochereau for the RER B to Gare du Nord, then line 5 to Bobigny, and 4 km of walking to reach my home. 2H45 to cover 18 short kilometres (where it usually takes about fifty minutes by public transport, from door to door). But the concert was really worth it! Xavier Prévost"

"Nostalgia Music were the entertainment at my daughters wedding in Greece in September 2023. They know how to read the crowd and provide amazing entertainment while playing a huge variety of Greek music. They definitely can tailor to someone’s preferences and type of event. They are great and so fun to work with!! Exceptional musicians, but also great people. Impressive communication and follow up. Punctual and reliable, and we also found them to be very reasonably priced. I truly cannot say enough about them!! My family and I fully and highly recommend them! I am actually trying to think of what other event we can have so we can hire them again! :-)"

"Jody Campeau President and CEO Maplesoft Group Inc. To: Rueben Kincaid Trio c/o Andy Ladouceur Maplesoft Group has had the pleasure of having the Rueben Kincaid Trio entertain guests at two important events, the most recent being our Maplesoft Christmas party at the Chateau Laurier. In both occasions, the band was professional, punctual and delivered all that was asked - A Class Act! They were helpful with stage location so as to not drown out any discussions taking place between guests. I am pleased to report that our guests commented on the bands ability to respect the venue and our guests with the music selection. Their voices are very powerful with beautiful harmonies! Their selection of cover songs were both recent and classic hits which appealed to all ages. We will most certainly consider them for our next event! Best regards, Jody Campeau"

"We had the pleasure of having John perform at a recent corporate event held at the Pillo Hotel in Ashbourne, and I can confidently say he was absolutely amazing! Our guests thoroughly enjoyed his saxophone playing, which created a brilliant atmosphere throughout the evening. John's song selection was spot-on, perfectly tailored to the mood of our event, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about his performance. He is a total professional, and we are more than happy to highly recommend him for any event. You will not be disappointed! Thank you, John, for making our event absolutely ACE!"

"Very satisfied Recently, I held an evaluation of the day and preparations with the other party. It emerged that we were very satisfied with your performance. In my opinion, there is nothing that could have been done differently or better. I also appreciated the quick and clear communication. I received rapid email responses, and you would follow up with a call immediately. Even though I was a bit late, everything was still possible. You also considered my budget, showing flexibility in that regard. On the day itself, I appreciated that you arrived early and played until the end. The music was excellent and perfectly matched the atmosphere. I experienced the collaboration as very positive and will think of you whenever we need a jazz combo. "

"Matt is an absolute gem of a man and a brilliant musician. My wife Jess and I had the pleasure of having Matt play at our wedding in Lagos five years ago and he certainly got the crowd feeling good. Some great tunes in his repertoire, songs for young and old that’ll have you dancing the night away. Couldn’t recommend this man anymore if you’re looking for some stellar music to accompany any event"

"Daniel Martinez was at The Queen’s Hall Edinburgh tonight performing his “20th Anniversary of Flamenco” concert to an enthusiastic audience who had filled the venue pretty much to capacity. Born and raised in Cordoba, Andalucia, this performer, composer and award winning guitarist started his professional flamenco studies at the age of 7. Daniel’s flamenco journey was to take him another 14 years of study at the Royal Conservatoire, and the opportunity to perform in some of the best tablaos (venues) in Cordoba. A move to Scotland has seen Danial Martinez make Edinburgh his new home, and tonight’s performance is part of an ongoing goal in life to not only keep true to the original ethos of Flamenco, but also to develop his own music and projects whilst bringing the living and breathing spirit of this art for to new audiences. This evening’s performance was split into two very distinct performances. The first half with Daniel Martinez performing solo on guitar and playing work from some of the great Flamenco guitarists who have influenced his own work over the years, including amongst others, Vicente Amigo, Paco de Lucía and Rafael Riqueni. Watching and listening to Daniel Martinez play guitar is in itself a lesson in his art, as his ability to perform the many challenging techniques that flamenco guitar requires to a very high standard is obvious, but this alone is never going to be enough, and something else has to happen for the spirit of this music to really work its magic, some connection that lets the performer become almost a conduit for the music, and Daniel Martinez has that elusive connection. The final performance of the first half “Baile por Rondena” (Dance for Rondena) was composed by Daniel Martinez and highlighted the interpretive performance skills of dancer Gabriela Pouso. It was perhaps here that we, the audience, got to get a little glimpse into the true spirit of flamenco as Daniel Martinez followed in the footsteps of Gabriela on guitar, along the way improvising his performance to match hers in rhythm, volume and expression with the two performers becoming almost one at times. This performance was a taster for a new project by Daniel Martinez and the Daniel Martinez Flamenco Company, “Andalucia”, and the full show will be performed at The Usher Hall accompanied by a Chamber Orchestra on Wednesday 8 Feb 2023. With this new show, Daniel Martinez is expanding upon his award winning “Art of Believing” work. The second half of the performance was very traditional in format featuring flamenco singing, plus of course more interpretive music and dance from Gabriela Pouso and Daniel Martinez. This show, for me, was a learning experience, a chance to find out more about how singers, dancers and guitarists individually express their own “flamenco spirit”, but also join together to create a performance that is rhythmically mesmerising whilst at the same time telling a story in performance arts.
