Review Centre: Singing Guitarists

"The North London-based artist Lee Michael Stevens steps away from The Swagger to take audiences on a personal journey. His first solo single “I Miss U Now”, co-wrote with brother Paul Stevens, is a taste of a long-player due in 2022, and it is a tantalising prospect. Here Lee is soaking up the atmosphere under the grey London sky. Both Britpop and balladesque, there is a lot to unpack from “I Miss U Now”. It is acoustic but energetic, with a thread of humanity, love and loss pulsing throughout. Both the production by Steve ‘Smiley’ Barnard, and the string arrangements by David Tims add beauty to the otherwise streetwise themes. In some ways it is obviously reminiscent of The Swagger, though there is a lot more of the personality of Lee Michael Stevens on display, teetering between sneering confidence and hopeless heartbreak. All-in-all a cracking first step in what promises to be a worthwhile journey."

"We booked Chris for our wedding entertainment on a whim after hearing him at a local wedding fair and struck gold. He was so easy to communicate with and needed minimal direction before, and on the big day. He arrived on time, had set up, and was already playing by the time we arrived back to the venue after taking some pictures - exactly what you want on such a busy day. Chris' blend of relaxed indie guitar was the perfect background music to our laid-back wedding, our guests were complimenting him all night! We even paid extra for Chris to stay an another hour, it was going so well, we didn't him to stop (we are very grateful to him for being such a good sport - especially with the impromptu karaoke) He is an extremely talented singer, and we are over the moon with his professionalism and performance."

Ben's smooth vocals and engaging presence created a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere that perfectly complemented the sunny afternoon. Whether people were sitting back and soaking up the sun or sampling the various beers on offer, his music provided the ideal backdrop for a wonderful day. Also, thanks very much for the songs you improvised for us towards the end of a great evening. Paul is a very talented singer/guitarist, and able to adapt his great voice to so many different styles of song, giving some great entertainment. "Will provided a wonderful hands on interaction in the run up to the wedding, working with us and providing recordings in advance so that we could make sure that our first dance was perfect. On the day he worked in conjunction with the venue and dj to ensure a wonderful mix of live music that got everyone on the dance floor. A wonderful singer that really made our day!"

"Marcus kept us entertained brilliantly all evening with his large repertoire of favourite songs. He arrived early with his entire pa system and was friendly efficient to deal with throughout. I would thoroughly recommend Marcus if you are looking for a troubadour that you can trust, who will perform beautifully and almost certainly leave your crowd wanting more! "

"I recently booked Rick to perform at my dads 60th birthday party and he was fantastic. There was a lot of communication back and forth prior to the party to make sure that the night was perfect for my dad and he really took into consideration the age group of the party and my dads musical preferences. His voice is brilliant and he read the crowd and knew exactly what songs to play to get the party going. He was totally professional and continued to perform even when rain started coming through the marquee!! I would thoroughly recommend Rick to anyone looking for a performer to make their party great. "

He sang at the ceremony and at our cocktail reception, which were back to back and he never skipped a beat.
